The Celebrity Apprentice 4

by David McAlpine

Last night on The Celebrity Apprentice, it was clear that the men were fed up with Gary Busey and that they wanted him gone. Meat Loaf could barely talk to him without looking like he was going into cardiac arrest, Lil Jon just didn't want anything to do it and John seemed to want the team dynamic to improve, which wasn't happening with Gary around.

So what do the men do? They put Gary in charge of the next challenge, because they figure if he can manipulate his way out of the boardroom so many times, he can manipulate them to a win. This week's challenge is dealing with Omaha Steaks and their catalog full of meat. Each team had to prepare a cooking show centered around the company's product and create a variety product from the catalog to market--the best marketing would win.

Going up against Busey and his team of noncompliant workers was Hope Dworaczyk, the model who has yet to say or do anything, really. On paper, this head-to-head was a toss-up, but it was evident that Gary had a lot of obstacles to jump if he wanted to win this one.

Gary puts Meat Loaf in charge of the food, despite the fact that Meat Loaf says he can't cook. Maybe he just thought it was apropos because of his name? However, Meat Loaf really had no choice, so he took on the role. In the process of assigning roles, apparently Gary called John a "boy" off camera, which he didn't take kindly to at all. At all. Note: Busey later says he said "c'boy," as in a shortened form of "cowboy." John was still not digging it.

Things on ASAP weren't all roses, either. After the women won last week, NeNe lost it on LaToya and told her she wasn't a valuable team member. Now, LaToya is worried everyone hates her and that their decision to have her make hamburgers instead of steaks was a ploy to throw her under the bus. In the meantime, NeNe continues to stew and Star takes over everything creative so that she can put her name all over it.

But for some reason, having Hope in the driver's seat was the magic that the women needed. She wasn't headstrong, but she didn't take too much from any given woman celebrity, either. It left me wondering why Hope didn't step up earlier…until I thought about all the crazies that had left already, and I figured it was better for her sanity. She kept the team, for the most part, away from each other's throats and developed a decent product.

The men, however, deliver up a burnt disaster. Meat Loaf does as much as he can in terms of learning about the product, but they realize too late that a) their menu is wrong and b) things on the menu are spelled incorrectly. The executives take quick note of that, the lack of participation on Lil' Jon and John's parts and Gary's elongated presentation to give the win to the women.

In the boardroom, Meat Loaf can barely get a sentence out, he's so frustrated with Gary. John is still pissed about the "boy" comment. And Lil' Jon is just sticking to his guns that he thinks Gary is crazy. Gary's mistake: he can't think of a name to bring back. Instead of fighting, he seems to accept defeat, which gives Trump the green light to fire him.

The Celebrity Apprentice airs Sundays at 10/9c on NBC.
