Ghost Hunters

"Frozen in Fear"

Story By: Chad Alan

Mission Point Resort - Mackinac Island, Michigan

Mission Point Resort was built in the 1950's and serves only as a summer vacation spot.  Completely empty during the winters, the resort is filled with reports of apparitions.  It's not only served as a hotel but also a college and evangelical retreat center.  One ghost they named "Harvey" is said to be seen the most and is named after a student who committed suicide after his girlfriend broke up with him.  Apparently she was the only girl at the college at the time....I'm just guessing.  His real name was not Harvey but the names have been changed to protect the deceased.  His old dorm room is a very active spot for paranormal activity and he tends to visit other rooms as well in the now hotel.  Other reports of paranormal activity are people being touched, items moving, and mechanical items turning themselves on.

TAPS co-founders Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson started their investigation in the resorts theatre.  Their new piece of investigative equipment is their dog Maddy.  Can't help but think that this is starting to look like a modern day Scooby Doo episode.  Maddy started to bark and headed to the corner of the room and they were able to register high EMF readings in that area.  The dog was clearly agitated but stopped barking.  They headed to the lodge where many reports of an apparition in a black robe has been reported.  Dave Tango, Steve Gonsalves, and K.J. McCormick didn't have any luck there but Jason and Grant were greeted by something going through one of the doors, with the door audibly opening and closing.  They both then heard a voice say "Hello" twice.  This was followed by a noise of something metal being dropped on the floor and then some shuffling down the hall but nobody was there.  They continued their hunt for "Harvey" and by roaming the halls of the hotel and calling out for him.  What they caught was the sound of two women talking followed by footsteps.

Amy Bruni and Adam Berry headed to "Harvey's" old dorm room.  People have reported a man walking through a wall in the room.  They tried very hard to make contact with Harvey but nothing interesting happened so the team would have to hope they ended up with an EVP.  K.J. joined them in the theatre and they split up, with Amy heading the balcony area where a little girl is said to be seen. Amy began hearing some noises followed by what sounded like a little girl.  As usual, nobody was around.

The team spent the night at the hotel and Jason drew the room with the most activity during the night.  He was awakened to what sounded like footsteps and then, at another point of the night, the light next to his bed turned on.

When the team reviewed the evidence, they did catch a few EVP's.  When Steve asked during one EVP session "what is your name?" something responded, but the team could not make out what it was saying.  A very faint EVP, a whole sentence, was caught but again, the team could not interpret it.  Another strange noise was caught which sounded more like a cheer then anything.   TAPS didn't come out and call the Mission Point Resort haunted, but they were impressed with some of the activity that occurred that night.
