The Amazing Race: Unfinished Business

by Gina Scarpa

Tonight, on The Amazing Race, things continue on in China. Teams head to Jin Fu Yi Zhan Tea Shop in order to complete a tea tasting - which will come back to haunt them later in this leg.

Everyone is finally leaving China and heading off to Kolkata, India and will get their next clue at Town Hall. When they land at the airport, there are people everywhere, which is just a taste of how crowded the streets can be there.

They'll have to camp out at Town Hall before they can get their clue and those who arrived first decided to play a joke on teams like Gary and Mallory by shouting, "Run! Run! Over there!" at them while they frantically ran, looking for a clue that didn't exist.

The competition is back on as the sun rises and teams face a Road Block. It's time to identify that tea that they tasted earlier. Seems impossible... well, unless you're Ron. He walked up and down the endless rows of tea and smelled them until he found the one he wanted. He was the first one done and moves on with Christina to the Tiwari Tea Stall to get the next clue.

At the back of the pack are the Globetrotters, Zev and Justin, and Margie and Luke. I think it's safe to say that, after this, they'll never want to drink another cup of tea again.

At Tiwari Tea Stall, teams face a Detour and have to decide between Hindu Art or Bengali Literature. In Hindu Art, teams head to statuary store to paint and decorate a statue of a Hindu god. In Bengali Literature, teams have to go to a bookstore where they must carry 8 stacks of books to a rickshaw school bus and direct a driver through the streets of Kolkata to a nearby school.

Looking at it on paper, it seems Hindu Art is the way to go but Gary and Mallory finish first doing Bengali Literature. The next three teams came from Hindu Art though, so at least I had the right idea.

Back at Town Hall, Luke is the only one left drinking tea and he doesn't think he can take it anymore. Margie tells him that he'll always regret it if he doesn't finish the task but also, not to worry about letting her down. He toughens up and drinks tea after tea until he finally finds the right one!

Gary and Mallory arrive first at the pit stop at The Fountain of Joy. They are the first to try to a new Snapple tea inspired by this episode and The Amazing Race - but there's more. They win an Indian feast while enjoying a Bollywood performance, and they get 1 million rupees (the equivalent of $20,000 US dollars) courtesy of Snapple!

Teams finish in the following order: Jet and Cord, Ron and Christina, Zev and Justin, Kent and Vyxsin, Jen and Kisha, and Flight Time and Big Easy.  Margie and Luke tried but were unable to catch up to everyone else and were eliminated from the race.

The Amazing Race airs Sundays at 8/7c on CBS.
