American Idol kicks off tonight with a random montage of clips of Marc Anthony hanging out backstage during last night's performance episode, followed by your not so typical medley of songs. First, the Top 11 belted out "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" with some pretty rockin' harmonies. Things picked up even more when the one and only Stevie Wonder came out to perform "Signed, Sealed, Delivered", then sang "Happy Birthday To You" as to Steven Tyler, who was most definitely surprised!
Once the celebration died down, it was time for the "tough part", as Seacrest called it. Lauren, Pia, and Scotty head to the center of the stage but there's no tough part for these three. They're all safe and making the Top 10 means they've made the tour!
Country superduo Sugarland takes the stage to perform their hit, "Stuck Like Glue". Idol contestants should pay close attention to Jennifer Nettles because she delivers in every performance she gives, both vocally and energetically.
After a video about James Durbin's obsession with wrestling, he's called to the center of the stage with his buddy, Paul. Seacrest tells them they're not safe... because he has a surprise for them. Hulk Hogan walks out on the stage and James practically pees his pants. Both guys think it's pretty awesome, especially when Hulk tells them that they're safe.
The next group to find out their results is James, Thia, and Stefano. James is sent back to safety but both Thia and Stefano are in the bottom three. Last up is Naima, Haley, and Casey. Seacrest tells Naima she's safe and going on the tour, then gives Haley the same good news. Casey is in the bottom three - WHAT?!
I feel a judges' save coming... with Thia, Stefano, and Casey in the bottom three this week.
Idol contestant, and arguably the best female singer to ever come through the show, Jennifer Hudson performs her new song, "Where You At".
Before it comes down to the final results, one singer is sent back to the safety and that person is Thia! Casey pulls the lowest number of votes and has to sing for the judges' save. He doesn't even get through half the song when Randy literally stops the performance to tell him that the judges are set on their decision - he's safe! He almost throws up, passes out, shakes violently, and repeats, "I can't believe it!" Neither can we.
Don't miss the Top 10 take the stage on American Idol, Wednesday at 8/7c on FOX.
