Arthur Wornum from The Biggest Loser 11

by Gina Scarpa

Perhaps no contestant this season on The Biggest Loser had a journey that will be as memorable as Arthur's. He came on to the ranch as one of the biggest contestants in the history of the show, at 507 pounds. His participation in temptation challenges gave him power in the game and that didn't always sit well with his fellow players. This week, he was sent to the red team, where he was voted out after his new team lost the weigh-in. Today, we spoke to Arthur in an exclusive interview about his experiences on the show and his weight loss journey at home.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What made you and your father decide to do The Biggest Loser?
A. Arthur: I had started my journey on my own beforehand. I asked God to put a path in front of me. I happened to be watching The Biggest Loser and saw they were having an open casting call. I figured nobody would be a bigger partner than my dad. I told everybody in line... I waited in line 11 hours... I told everybody, "I got a secret weapon coming!"

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When we talked to your dad, he said that he would've taken immunity over working with Bob and Jillian? What would you have chosen if it were up to you?
A. Arthur: Oh no! My choice was definitely Bob and Jillian. My dad always said, "If it's too good to be true, it usually is." After going through the experience, I know how important it was to have Bob and Jill. My dad used his "Daddy Card" as I called it. He said if we had the choice, we were picking immunity.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Your decision to swap Jay and Jen out with Deni and Sarah had a lot of people upset. If you could go back, would you have kept the teams the same?
A. Arthur: That's a tough one. Honestly, I don't think I would have. Knowing what I know now, I would've taken my concerns to Marci, who was our leader, and talked it over with my team.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Why did you participate in temptation challenges? Were you that worried that your team would get rid of you?
A. Arthur: No, I never, ever once worried about my team voting me out. I knew those girls would never let me leave the ranch. My problem with the first temptation, when I ate the chicken leg, was that I can't let my fate rest in somebody else's hands. I wasn't gonna let that happen. I had a good idea no one else would eat so I ate the thing with the lowest amount

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: When you returned home for the 2 weeks (on this week's episode), what was the toughest part about being away from the ranch?
A. Arthur: Well, the toughest thing was wanting to get around to see all the friends and families but knowing I have to train for a 5K.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How did it feel to be moved to the red team?
A. Arthur: I can tell you that it truly was... you know that suit you have hanging in your closet that you know you'll only wear for your funeral? Putting on that red shirt and sweatshirt, I knew I was dressing for my funeral.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You lost 16 pounds but still landed below the yellow line. Was that tough for you?
A. Arthur: I'll be honest. That's the toughest part about this whole elimination process. I did everything in my power. I cut 12 minutes total off of my 5K time. I gave it everything I had. To get on the scale, lose 16 pounds, and gain 3 pounds of muscle that they don't talk about, ti was devastating. I stood on that scale and I almost lost it. I looked back and I saw that 390 and I haven't been under 400 pounds since I was 20 years old. I wasn't gonna have a pity party for myself.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you feel that gameplay and alliances had a lot to do with your exit from the game?
A. Arthur: I wouldn't necessarily say gameplay. It was just alliances. Anytime it's an "us vs. them" mentality, you're gonna have that. There's no way you can expect them to keep me being the number one threat in the game. I have the most weight to lose. I have turned a corner where the weight is dropping off of me. In the last 4 weeks, I've lost 29 pounds, 16 pounds... I'm putting up tremendous numbers.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How is your weight loss journey going at home?
A. Arthur: The weight loss journey is going really well. I can't explain to you the tremendous support and outpouring of love that I'm receiving and that just drives me! My goal is to lose a little over a pound a day until the finale. I already won. This is the first time since I started this journey that I see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm a little less than 100 pounds away from that light. It's just a sprint.
