There were 100 contestants left on American Idol, but that number is about to be cut significantly. Tonight's episode was the night that the contestants had to shine to stay in the competition.

 

The show started off with an amazing performance by 20- year-old Haley who stumbled through her performance last night. Tonight she made up for that even though it was difficult to understand the words she was saying. Ashton came out with so much personality that she shined in her performance and seriously rocked the house. Thia followed the first two with a performance that might have been better than both. She was extremely colorful in a bright colored jacket and sang just as colorfully.

 

Others didn't have such an easy time. Adrian, Caleb and and Frances messed up the words to their songs and sang out of pitch. While those three had a more difficult time, Clint, Kendra and Sophia rocked the stage with their songs.

 

Chris and Carson both sang the same song, "My Prerogative" but managed two very different performances. Both were amazing and Carson continued with his fully energetic performance.

 

Other Idol contestants showed their other talents by performing with instruments. Julie, Colton and Robbie sang beautifully while playing the keyboard. Others played guitar like Caleb and Brett. But most surprising was Casey who brought in a stand up bass and jammed away on it.

 

Jacqueline had to leave the competition tonight after she got very ill. She was weak and went to the hospital after sadly saying her goodbyes. But this left her roommate Chelsea quite distressed and made her performance not as strong as she had hoped.

Some contestants did an amazing job like Lauren and John Wayne. Others were the stand outs of the night such as Jacob Lusk. He should his range in the song he chose and really showed the judges why he was there.

 

Ashley, nicknamed the emotional time bomb on the show, did an a cappella song that she dedicated to her boyfriend. She stumbled at the beginning asking to start over. She started to freak out during the song allowing her emotions to get the best of her.

 

Stefano, Jovany and Jacee all had solid performances that the judges enjoyed. Though Scotty and Tatynisa both forgot the words to the country song they sang. Both were unhappy with themselves after their performances.

 

The judges split everyone up into four different rooms based on their talent. Two rooms stayed in the competition while the other two went home. Room one contained Ashley, Jacee, Brett, Robbie, Lauren, James, Kasey and many others. That room will continue on. Room two contained Corey, Frances and others but they left tonight. Room three also left with Mark, Chelsea and others. Room four was the other lucky room with contestants Carson, Julie, Scott Jovany and others. Those two rooms will compete next week.

 

Next week theme is music from The Beatles. Let's see who can bring the talent and who will not make the cut.
