Celebrity Rehab: Season 4

by Robin Hardwick

"Reunion"

Dr. Drew welcomes us to the live studio, with what I think are the same chairs that they used in group therapy. Dr. D looks like he is really enjoying playing the Phil Donahue role in all of this. he reminds us that addiction is "the disease of our time".

In case you weren't tired of all the breakdown and the bickering, there's a smorgasbord of choice tidbits. But let's get into it, shall we? Dr. Drew reminds us about 5 times that the show is live. And strangely, he also decides its worth the time to let us know that he was sick last week after coming back from the Caribbean for his 20th wedding anniversary. Thanks for rubbing it in.

Enter the cast and Bob and Shelley, and each guest gets their own restrospective and time to be cross-examined by Dr. Drew.

Janice Dickinson may have gotten more surgery on her face, because she now looks like the Joker (Jack Nicholson version). She talks about how her addiction and menopause made her crazy. And just yesterday, she finally forgave her father. She seems actually calm and coherent. She has been sober since the show.

Jeremy London, who reminds us that he was been on SIX television series (so is he counting this one?) had not only a drug problem, but there was a media circus around his alleged kidnapping. He's been sober, doing well, and is now back with his son. Jeremy's father is in the audience and confirms Jeremy is doing well. Jeremy's wife, Melissa, not so much. Melissa is in Colorado still trying to straighten things out. Jeremy needs a haircut.

Frankie Lons looks like she got a full MTV makeover, including a new wig and a bustier so ill-fitting I'm scared we will have a wardrobe malfunction. Frankie hasn't been completely sober, but she's stayed away from hard liquor. Dr. Drew lays into her, and I even feel bad for her; this is not therapy and ifeels more like shaming Frankie explains that she is having a family crisis and it's hard for her to get help in Atlanta because of all the groupies there. And tells everyone that they can talk to her manager more about it. Yikes.

Eric Roberts, looking like a physics professor, has been relatively quiet this whole time. He's also doing better, has stayed sober, and reconnected with Keaton, his estranged stepson. He makes a point to mention Keaton's music career and his new album. I'd bet money that Keaton will have his own reality show before the end of the year.

Jason Wahler looks a bit puffy, and is more talkative than he has ever been on the show. And truth be told, he's quite down to earth and eloquent. He has been closer with his parents, he is doing an outpatient program, and is serving as a patients' advocate. Dr. Drew, apparently unsatisfied with every one's boring success stories, confronts Jason and asks if he's still partying and going out to clubs. Jason insists he is not, he's back in orange County and surfing and relaxing.

Dr. Drew is saving the most dramatic for last, and so he's come to the saga of Jason Davis. Jason D. doesn't look so hot, looks like he's gained weight and is back to his sweaty and greasy self. Jason had 2 relapses since leaving the show, and then had a significant incident, which unfortunately, was edited out of the show. Jason insists his life is in order now, and is rooming with Jason W. and they are "starting some great things." I hope it's not a new reality show of their lives as roommates. Jason W. says he's now devoted his life to sobriety. Rachel confronts him and tells him she is worried, and Dr. Drew cuts in to talk about how his addiction can kill him. Jason snarks "OKAY I get it." Which, I do feel for him, here he is saying how he's been better and they keep telling him the same things. Jason is 90 days sober.

Leif Garrett, who is trying his hardest to disappear into his seat, is in the spotlight next. He is dressed exactly like counselor Bob Forrest, who he has been keeping in touch with. Leif insists that he can stay sober alone, and Dr. Drew tells him it breaks his heart because he doesn't think he will succeed. Leif doesn't put up much of a fight, but insists he's doing well. I'll bet he is just there because it is in his contract to appear.

Rachel Uchitel, who got new collagen lip injections for the occasion, recounts how when she arrived at rehab, she wasn't sure for what. She "just didn't feel good." Now there's a reason to go to rehab if any, right? She had a love addiction and needed to let go of her deceased fiance. Rachel babbles for a while but ultimately loves everyone there and is grateful for the experience.

Dr. Drew invites Bob and Shelley to share their concerns about the patients, i.e., there has not been enough drama on the show so he needs to create some. Shelly again reiterates how hard it is stay sober and shoe doesn't believe that everyone there is doing as fine as they say they are. Way to be supportive. The attention gets back to Frankie, who doesn't always answer every one's calls. She insists it is because her phone fell in the toilet. Dr. Drew says tersely "there's something called email. We'll teach you." His annoyance is starting to show.

There are some other folks there from previous shows, they are all women including someone named, Amber, Mckenzie, Lisa and Jessica, who is now pregnant. Dr. Drew gives them a chance to say how they are doing, but ultimately interrupts them because "hey, remember this show is live" and they had to roll the credits.
