The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection

by Allie Giffes

On this week's episode of The Fashion Show: The Ultimate Collection, the designers meet up with Iman at a vintage accessory shop, and her first order of business is to even out the two houses. Since Jeffrey came up with the house name "Emerald," he will be rejoining Cesar, who is the only house member left. The designers have the privilege of meeting Simon Doonan, the creative director of Barney's, who chooses two accessories for each designer to work off of. They must create TWO looks each, which will be extremely difficult considering this is a 24-hour challenge.

The designers quickly start conceptualizing their designs. Luckily, Cesar and Jeffery both have "bird-like" accessories, so being cohesive won't be as big of a challenge for the two talented designers. Regardless, all of them have very eccentric and timeless items to work off of; there's no doubt that this challenge is sure to generate some very unique and interesting designs from the final 5.

During evaluation, Isaac urges Eduardo to try something different with his design and warns Calvin that he is hanging on to his place in this competition by a thread. He also criticizes Cesar's risky idea to tie-dye the fabric for his garment (and let's hope he listens.. he probably won't.)

Calvin reveals to us that his partner of 10 years is dying, and that if he wins the competition he will donate every cent of his winnings to the Gay Men's Health Crisis service organization. So he does have a heart after all. Unfortunately, he is very lost in this challenge and it doesn't look like he'll be collecting a win this time around.

First to hit the runway is the House of Nami. Dominique's "pig coat" is extremely unique and chic; I'd definitely wear one! And despite how much Calvin struggled, I didn't think his designs were half bad. Emerald's designs were plain and chic, but are they too simple?

The judges commend the designers individually for being creative and unique, but Emerald has winning collection this week. However, Jeffrey had the winning look. Isaac even called his dress "the best design in the competition so far."

The judges had a lot of great things to say about each designer's look. At elimination, the judges immediately tell Calvin that he can stay, shocking everyone including him. Eduardo, who I assumed would absolutely be one of the final two, is out of fashion.
