The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection

by Allie Giffes

"Civil Union"

On this week's episode of The Fashion Show: The Ultimate Collection, Calvin feels betrayed by Dominique, who's more concerned with mourning David's elimination from the competition. However, the show must go on. The remaining six designers travel to meet Iman at a beautiful church. They must create a wedding look... and to stick with the theme, they must compete as couples. To figure out who's working with whom, each designer must pull a ring from a bag. Calvin is the first to choose and each of the remaining designers pray that they don't get the ring that matches his. The teams end up being Cesar and Eduardo (the two "powerhouses"), Cindy and Calvin, and Jeffrey and Dominique. The big twist? They will be designing looks for the weddings of three loving gay couples.

The designers waste no time; they immediately start consulting with their new clients. Each couple desires something different and unique for their wedding, but Calvin has a hard time listening to his clients' wishes and Cindy is already growing frustrated.

As Isaac reviews the teams' mood boards, it's obvious that Cindy and Calvin will struggle the most. Not only is Calvin impossible to work with, but they are also the only couple that is working with men - and needless to say, men's wear is NOT Cindy's specialty. This challenge also hits a soft spot for Cesar, who lost his partner to colon cancer just a year prior to the competition.

The next day, we learn that Jeffrey is a virgin...

Also, the clients meet with the designers to try on their timeless wedding designs. Cesar and Eduardo's clients are extremely pleased, as are Dominique and Eduardo's. However, Calvin is extremely rude to his client who wanted a "Korean-inspired" robe. The client feels as though Calvin has completely failed to execute his requested design.

Jeffrey and Dominque's couple hit the runway first. Their designs beautifully fit the beach-inspired theme that they wanted. Next are Cesar and Eduardo's ladies. Their designs are flashy, modern and fabulous. Despite Cindy's struggle, her client looks happy to wear her design on the runway. On the other hand, Calvin's client looks like he just walked off the set of a Harry Potter movie.

This week, Rachel Zoe and Johnny Weir join the panel. The designer's job is to execute the client's idea, and Calvin did not do his job. The judges ask his client what he thinks of his final design, and he does not hesitate to express his disappointment.

Dominique wins the competition for the second week in a row. It looks like we'll have to suck it up and listen to her whine about David for at least another two episodes! Not surprisingly, Calvin and Cindy end up in the bottom two. Just when we thought there was a chance that we could see Calvin go home, Cindy is deemed "out of fashion." Aren't the judges tired of dealing with Calvin yet?

Regardless, Cindy doesn't leave the competition without Iman's final words of encouragement. She tells her that she has "all that it takes."
