They may have argued their way through The Amazing Race this season but Nick and Vicki say that they had just as much fun as they did fights. The two surprised fans when, after a shaky start, they came back to become a team to look out for. In Hong Kong, though, the stress of the race caught up with Nick and he gave up on a challenge, forcing them to take a 6 hour penalty. They were never able to make up that time and were eliminated at the next pit stop, in South Korea. Today, we spoke to Nick and Vicki in an exclusive interview about their experiences on the race and how it has affected them.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Whose idea was it to try out for The Amazing Race?
A. Vicki: It was kind of more so my idea. I brought it to Nick's attention. I've had a lot of clients say we would be great at it because we're so athletic. We sent in a video and we were one of the lucky ones that got chosen.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Had you traveled a lot before going on the race?
A. Vicki: Nick has only traveled to California and Florida. I've traveled to Italy, Jamaica, all over the United States. I have some experiences overseas.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Nick, what was that like for you to travel all around the world considering that you hadn't been many places beforehand?
A. Nick: It was great! It was the experience of a lifetime to see all those places with somebody that you care about so much. It's such a big deal! I was pretty excited.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you work with any teams along the way?
A. Nick: No, we were friendly with 90% of the teams. That kept us out of the radar and out of harm's way.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You got off to a rocky start this season. Were you worried that you would go home early on?
A. Nick: Yeah, the first leg in London, we were sweating bullets. We knew. We got lost for 4 hours looking for a castle that was 15 minutes away. Yeah, we were nervous. After the London leg, we regrouped and talked about it after. We both made a pact that we'd get more directions. We would stop more often if we had to. A lot of our London issues were no communication.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Speaking of communication issues, the show chose to highlight a lot of the fights that the two of you had on the race. What was it like to watch the episodes back and see yourselves?
A. Nick: It was kind of upsetting to see the way that we communicated for the majority of the race. I lost my temper a majority of times. It's helped our relationship. It was negative but it turned into a positive.
A. Vicki: I feel like I'm in the race again when I watch the episodes. I get that anxious feeling. It makes me upset to see how he's talking to me but we had as much fun as we had bickering which wasn't shown. I just like seeing Nick realizing it. If he didn't, we would've had a problem. We had a great time and we did have fun and laugh. It wasn't just all Nick hating me.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Do you regret taking the 6 hour penalty?
A. Vicki: Oh, I absolutely even regretting letting him do it. I know Nick really regrets it.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Nick, what was going on that day that made you want to give up?
A. Nick: From the start of the day, it was just bad luck after bad luck. Eventually, I just had enough. I was tired, I was hungry, I was over the top irritable. I was just done.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You ran that last leg very competitively, even though you were basically out of the race. Was it important to you to finish strong?
A. Nick: Yeah, definitely! It was important to us as a team and as competitive people. I hated that I gave up the night before. We both had a good, strong feeling that it was our last leg so we went into it like it wasn't our last leg.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Other than going home first, going home the leg before the finale has got to be the toughest. How did you deal with that?
A. Nick: I slept! It was great!
A. Vicki: I was so mad. I felt like I couldn't get over it. I felt like we didn't do all we could do. If he didn't give up, I know we would be in the top 3.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What has been the reaction of people to the two of you since the season has started airing?
A. Vicki: Well, in public, the feedback is great. On the computer, which we don't even look at much, everybody is judging what they see. They don't know Nick and they're pretty rough on him. I haven't gotten any negative feedback. I think their main focus is on Nick and they don't know him. They hate him.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: How has being on the race affected you as a couple?
A. Vicki: I think it made us grow stronger. First off, we're not normally together 24/7. We both have careers and we see each other a few hours a day at the most. That was very challenging to be around each other all the time. We spend more time together now than we used to. I think it was great all in all going on the race. If you can survive going through the race as a couple, you can get through life together.
