The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection

"Time Capsule"

On this week's episode of The Fashion Show: Ultimate Collection...

After their third consecutive loss last week, the House of Emerald's spirits are weighed down with discouragement.

The designers travel to the Museum of Natural History to receive their next challenge. In front of them are nine time capsules, and their challenge is to create a fashion forward look inspired by the contents of each year enclosed within. Also, since Iman LOVES plaid, they also must incorporate the bold pattern into their designs.

With 30 minutes to conceptualize, the designers sift through the objects inside their boxes and quickly search for inspiration. It's not surprising that our angel, Cesar, receives the box dated 2001. It looks like he's going to have to delve deep into some hard to reach places in order to create a look appropriate for this infamous year.

Cesar is finally starting to feel the pressure of his teammates' codependency. However, he recognizes the importance of his team winning as a whole and not just him as an individual achieving success and naturally pulls through for his fellow fashion designers. He decides to create two designs for this challenge in order to make up for the loss of Emerald's teammate, Tamara, in last week's elimination.

Meanwhile, It seems as though Calvin has miraculously found a place with Nami as he parades around in heels and laughs with the rest of his team. There's no doubt that everyone is relieved to trade in Calvin's drama for his jokes.

First to hit the runway in front of the judges, supermodel Anja Rudnik included in the panel this week, is the House of Nami.

Dominque's grungy look brought a reinvented version of the flannel shirt to the runway - and she rocked it! Shortly after, Emerald displays their collection. Cesar's unique design symbolically represented 2001 in the sense that everyone felt as though they had to "cocoon" themselves.

And the winner is ...the House of Emerald, finally! The judges praise Cesar's ambition for creating two looks, and Jeffery's 1989 dress wins the award for ultimate design.

Nami must face the judges. Rolando admits that he struggled with executing his 1960's design, and the judges agree that his garment fell flat this time around. Also, Iman instead refers to David's Michael Jackson-inspired jumpsuit as "cringe-inspiring".

Dominque and David's seemingly-closer-than-friends relationship comes through as the judges put David on the spot and ask him why he feels as though he should continue on in the competition. Her emotions run high when David nearly resigns from the competition, but after her breakdown he explains how his grandmother is his motivation to keep going in the world of fashion.

It predictably all comes down to David and Rolando. Unfortunately, and surprisingly after David's indifference on the runway, Rolando is out of fashion.
