The Challenge: Cutthroat

by Gina Scarpa

Last night, on The Challenge: Cutthroat, the players threw Dunbar a surprise birthday party which quickly got out of control thanks to free flowing alcohol and Laurel ripping off the shirts of other girls. After a hot tub pillow fight (yeah, those things are ruined), Cara Maria and Abe head to their bunk to snuggle together and he tells her she's the prettiest girl there. Nothing says romance like a bunk bed!

Before their challenge, the players get a text saying something about there being a thin line between failure and success. Anybody else feeling a tightrope? Yep. For this challenge, team members will cross from one building to another, two at a time, and have a series of ropes to grab onto in order to steady them. The gray team, who won the last challenge, chooses the blue team to go first, then red, then themselves, of course.

Despite having to go first, the blue team does extremely well, getting everyone across. When the red team is up, Paula takes Dunbar down with only inches to go to the finish line. Knowing that they haven't beaten the blue team, Tori and Brad make the decision not to go on the tightrope. Yes, they could prove themselves as strong competitors but if they screw up and fall, it's just reason enough for their team to throw them into the Gulag. Smart. During the gray team's turn, I have no idea how they did it but Cara Maria and Abe made it across despite almost falling about 57 times and seeming completely out of control. When it's Dan and Luke's turn, the pair can't seem to get from rope to rope and end up falling. The blue team wins!

Back at the house, the red team proves again that they are not unified. They throw votes everybody's way and do not function as a team at all. They throw Camila in (big surprise) as well as Dunbar. With no rookie boys, they had no choice but to toss a vet in to the Gulag. The gray team chooses Laurel, which pisses her off, since she feels she's a way better competitor than Cara Maria. Dan is also voted in but it's no surprise to him. He knew it was time to step up and prove himself.

The Gulag challenge was Die Hard, which we've seen before. TJ rolled a dice and players had to roll on a much bigger version of it and match their number to TJ's in a box in the middle of the playing field - without falling off. Dunbar makes quick work of Dan and then Camila and Laurel get neck and neck but Laurel prevails.

Yeah, maybe Camila shouldn't have been voting for Brad but the red team is pretty stupid to send their strongest girl home just based on personal feelings...
