America's Next Top Model Cycle 15

by Mike Bandy

Last night's episode of America's Next Top Model began with Liz saying that her commercial last week was awful, and that being on Top Model would change her life and her daughter's life. Meanwhile, Chris, whose commercial was playing at the house, said that she's not the best model but she has the "oomph that some of the other girls don't carry."

Ms. Jay shows up at the house with bicycles for the girls, and tells them that they're going to see Venice. They all ride down the street and stop at a bridge, which Ms. Jay tells them they'll be diving off of for their next photo shoot. All of a sudden, Tyra shows up on a gondola and tells the girls that they're going to Venice, Italy, for the rest of the competition. Screaming and excitement ensue, and the girls rush home to pack their bags.

The girls land in Venice and begin exploring the city. Liz was complaining about the heat, Jane wanted brochures because she loves European history, and Ann is finally starting to open up with the girls. They all go to the Hotel Danielli, where they'll be staying, and their room has a view of all of Venice. Kayla commented that she could get used to living the fabulous life because, "I'm gay, that's what we're used to."

Next day, the girls woke up to Tyra Mail which said, "Don't be seduced by your surroundings or you might go overboard." The girls meet Jay, who arrived on a gondola with Simone Falcetta, the photographer for the week. The photo shoot was a high fashion period editorial in which the girls were 17th century courtesans all vying for Casanova's (played by an Italian male model) attention.

Group one was Kayla, Liz and Chris. The latter two were awkward in finding their positions at first, but Kayla found her comfort zone right away, and Jay said that she outshined the other girls in the shot. Chris became more awkward as the shoot progressed, and Liz was upset about the heat.

The second group was Ann, Jane, and Chelsey. Jay really liked how Chelsey engaged with the male model, and feels that she's becoming more confident in the competition. Jane had the best shoot ever, and made Jay feel as though he was looking back in time. Ann was awkward and stuff for most of the shoot, and Jay wasn't sure if she could really sell a photograph.

After the shoot, Jay announced that the girls would be moving on to Milan, and the next day, the girls arrive at their new house to find that it's smaller than they expected. Tyra surprises the girls and explains that she chose this house because models just starting out do not live in glamorous homes, and she wanted the girls to experience what the modeling world is really like. Tyra then told the girls that they'd be visiting the Missoni fashion house the next day.

The girls meet Ms. Jay and Angela Missoni, the creative director, who wanted the girls to try on clothes from the winter collection and walk for her. Ms. Jay then introduces the girls to Margarita Missoni, Angela's fashion designer and model daughter, who tells the girls that they'll be wearing the dresses to panel that evening.

In the holding room before panel, Chelsey talked about how she passes out really easily. At panel, with guest judge Margherita Massoni, Jane, Ann, and Chelsey were up first. The judges liked their photo as a wide shot, and said that Jane was the best. Chelsey had great contact with the male model, and Ann looked stiff and uncomfortable.

When their critique was over, Chelsey appeared as though she might pass out, and Tyra made the group go back and sit down, and then noticed that Liz was also faint. The next group, Liz, Kayla, and Chris, were told to sit down on the runway because they weren't feeling well. Kayla was the star of her shot and really connected with the camera, Chris was dynamic on her own, and Liz's pose looked too sultry.

After deliberation, call-outs went as follows: Kayla, Jane, Chelsey, Ann. The bottom two were Chris and Liz, and Liz was eliminated because the judges said she made too many excuses.

Tyra told Liz that she doesn't have to win this competition to be a good influence on her daughter, and that she could still be successful as a model. Liz said that she was happy to make it this far, and that the only option she has is to take what she's learned here and move forward with it, and that she couldn't wait to see her daughter.
