The 6th leg of The Amazing Race began with the doctors, Nat and Kat, leaving first, their destination? St Petersburg, Russia. Though the sun was out in all its glory, it was actually really late at night, so you know what that means? All the teams eventually met up at the airport in the morning for the first flight out of the airport.

 

Arriving first to the clue box in Russia are the TV Hosts Brook and Claire, who are met by a detour that asks them to choose between Classical Music and Classical film. Teams must chose to either find a specific clip of film in a sea of old movie reels, or test their hearing by listening to three pieces of classical music and then trying to match the pianists playing each piece of music, the catch here is that the three piano players are among hundreds of others who are all playing at the same time.

 

The challenges are both overwhelming. It's a mad dash through the film for Jill and Thomas and Michael and Kevin but no one seems to be finding anything in the rubble. That is until Thomas luckily pulls the clip out of a discarded pile of film. On the other end it turns out that the music is proving to be the harder task as none of the teams can manage to decipher which piano is playing what. Every team that chooses the classical music task decides to switch. Well every team except Chad and Steph. Steph thinks they should stick it out and though Chad lets her have her way. he slips into a negative Nancy attitude, becoming frustrated and loosing his cool.

 

As the other teams arrive at the film hall, Michael and Kevin and Brook and Claire both find their film and are off to the next clue. It seems perseverance pays off for Chad and Steph who finally find the right Pianists.

 

The teams must now decide who is going to take the Road Block and become a Babushka, or a Russian farm lady, for the day. It's a smelly task but someone's got to do it. As the teams jump into traditional Babushka dresses, back at the film hall, the last team Nick and Vick are still unable to find the film, so they decide to again switch and return to the music hall to again try to decipher the music.

 

While they attempt the classical music task again, Jill and Thomas become the 1st team to arrive at the Pit Stop.  Michael and Kevin would have made it there first but got lost along the way. 

In the end, Nick and Vick were the last ones to stroll to the Pit Stop.  I was actually sad for these two, who let's face it weren't actually the smartest players to run the race. However, somehow I believe the producers heard my thoughts because this turned out to be the 2nd non elimination leg of the season giving Nick and Vick another shot at the million. 

 

 

The Amazing Race airs Sundays at 8/7c on CBS.
