Tonight's episode began with Kayla asking everyone how elimination felt, and all the girls were happy that Kacey was eliminated. Kendal said that she's a shy quiet girl, and she needs to turn it up a notch. Back at the house, Esther said she felt lucky to be there, and wants to stay true to herself. She's a modern Orthodox Jew, and has to work hard to make sure that everything she eats is kosher.

 

The girls get a Tyra Mail that says, "Sometimes you have to perform a duet before you get your big solo, Love, Tyra." The next day, the girls arrive at the Grammy Museum and meet Mr. Jay and Neil Portnow, the president and CEO of the recording academy. Neil tells the girls that one of them would be chosen to be a Grammy girl at the 2011 Grammy awards.

 

The girls are paired into teams, and had to go to Chic Little Devil, where each girl must pick out an outfit for her partner to wear. Neil and Jay would determine which outfits were best, Jay would pick the winning team, and Neil would determine which girl would win the grand prize.

 

The girls arrive at the store, and had 10 minutes to choose clothes for their partners. Kayla didn't get Liz the ball gown she wanted, and opted instead for black pants. Kendal got a dress for Chris that was too short, and Ann picked a dress for Chelsey that was too big for her.

 

Notable girls in the challenge were Kayla, who said that plenty of people go to the Grammys in ball gowns, but the key is to bring your personality; Kendal, who said she'd be really nervous in front of the crowd at the Grammys, and might have to drink a Red Bull for energy, and Chelsey, who was holding her dress because it didn't fit.

 

The winning team for this challenge was Kayla and Liz, and Kayla was picked to be the Grammy girl. She broke down in tears, and talked about her rough past being poor and being ostracized for her sexuality, and said that being at the Grammys meant a lot to her. Liz didn't handle losing well, and decided to handle the situation with alcohol. She got very drunk and was running around the house, crawling around on the floor and being generally upset.

 

After that, the girls got a Tyra Mail that said, "Sometimes being labeled can be a good thing. Love, Tyra."

 

The next day, the girls went to Smashbox Studios, and Mr. Jay told them that fashion is a business, and they need to know about designers. The girls were to portray an iconic fashion designer, and would be paired with a female model who will be wearing the designs. Rushka Bergman was the stylist for the day, and Francesco Carrozzini was the photographer.

 

Notable girls at the photo shoot were Liz, who had John Galliano and pulled off a killer shot; and Kayla, who had Vivienne Westwood and really gave a lot of energy. Some girls who did not do so well were Esther, who was Christophe Decarnin and had some trouble being manly in her shot, and Kendal, whom Jay said was flat and boring and looked as though she didn't want to be there.

 

Next up, panel, with guest judge Francesco Carrozzini! Here's who did well: Kayla, whose shot Nigel said was very striking and was her best shot to date; and Liz, who showed subtlety but captured John Galliano perfectly. Not so well: Esther, whom Nigel said was too over the top and Carozzini said didn't put enough of herself in the shot, and Kendal, who did not take direction well. Tyra asked Kendal what she thought was holding her back, and Kendal said it was her nerves, and she felt she needed more experience.

 

After deliberations, the call-outs were as follows: Liz (breaking Ann's five-week streak!), Kayla, Ann, Chelsey, Chris, Jane. The bottom two were Esther and Kendal, and Kendal was eliminated. Tyra told Kendal that the other girls had more ability than she did, and she needs to go home and find someone in her hometown to take pictures of her to make her push through and get her out of her shell.

 

Kendal said she was sad and she's tried so hard, but didn't know what else she could do. She knows she needs practice, but doesn't know what she's going to do.
