Tyrone Davis from Survivor: Nicaragua

This week, on Survivor: Nicaragua, Probst shook things up when he not only got rid of the Medallion of Power, but asked the tribes to drop their buffs and mixed up the teams. The Espada tribe was unable to grab a win in their immunity challenge and, with the help of its new younger members, voted Tyrone out of the game for being too controlling and opinionated. Today, we spoke to the calm and cool fire captain in an exclusive interview about his time on Survivor: Nicaragua.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Were you a fan of Survivor previously? What made you want to try out?
A. Tyrone: No I wasn't a fan of Survivor. What made me want to try out was that I thought it was exciting. What I did know was that it looked like an awesome adventure and a great challenge. I wanted to do my best and be my best. It looked like a lot of fun.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What was your reaction when you found out that the tribes would be split by age this season?
A. Tyrone: When I found out, I was happy about it. I take pride in being able to compete and do things with 20 years my junior. I can do things with them and even better than them. Sometimes at the gym, I play basketball with kids that are 20 years old and I school them on the court. I liked it!

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: There were several leaders on the Espada tribe. You had Jimmy Johnson and then Jimmy T trying to lead. Did that make it hard for the group?
A. Tyrone: No, I didn't see it that way. I think the person that really wanted to take the lead was Marty. Jimmy Johnson didn't necessarily want to take the lead. He was the leader by default. That's what you do for a living. I just rolled with everybody else, whatever they wanted to do. Jimmy T discredited his leadership ability by asking to be the leader. That was bananas. Nobody is going to have a leader that is chaotic like he was! He did himself in. He was like, "Look at me! Look at me!"

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: You stepped into the leadership position this week. Is that something you wanted to do or felt you had to do?
A. Tyrone: It was neither. I was already put in that leadership role before the tribes split. After Jimmy Johnson, there's Tyrone as a leader. It was what it was. I didn't have any problem with it. When the kids came over, somebody had to tell them what we've been doing and how we flow. I was like the WalMart greeter! It wasn't a dictatorship by any means. It was a democracy.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was there anyone you were officially working with in the game?
A. Tyrone: I don't know that I really had any alliance or any true alliances. One person I was connected with was Jill a little bit and Jimmy T. Jimmy T is a decent cat but he just got in his own way.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: This week's vote came down to you and NaOnka. Did you have any idea the things she was doing or saying while you were in the game or did you find out when you watched the episodes?
A. Tyrone: No no no! We had no freakin' idea. As America was shocked, I'm shocked! I voted for NaOnka based that she's a quitter and had too much drama going on. I think some of it is theatrics. If she did that in certain areas, well... she wouldn't. I'll just put it like that.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What are you up to now?
A. Tyrone: You know what? It's back to reality! I'm living my daily life which is more of a challenge than Survivor was. Now, I truly am a leader. That's my responsibility. There are certain challenges and just like in the game, there can be a target on your back whether you're a fire captain or a CEO. There are stresses that come with that! I'm also enjoying my fifteen minutes. It's a bomb experience and I'm optimistic that I'll get another opportunity to play and I'm sure I'll do a hundred times better than I did!
