Dancing with the Stars Season 11

by Gabrielle Abrams

Dancing with the Stars week 3 had some hard competition from the night before. The encore performance could have been anyone. The futuristic fox trot, performed by The Situation and Karina, was chosen as this nights encore performance. The time machine performance is still something to watch, bringing the fox trot to a whole new level.

Three couples were brought out right away to be told their fate. Audrina and Tony were the first to be told they were safe, calming their nerves. Kurt and Anna shortly followed them to the safe zone. Kyle and Lacey were then told that they would be waiting in jeopardy.

Neo was the first guest performer of the night showcasing his new single. This was the first time he has performed a song off of his new single on television, making this performance even more exciting. It was a fun performance to watch as it fit in well with the "story time" theme of the week. He spent the song chasing after a girl, in which he got her at the end by the outside door.

Next Donny Osmond hits the streets of Las Vegas to ask the people exactly what they think of the season 11 contestants on the show. When asked who the favorite competitors were, it seems like everyone has a favorite in the show. So, who would win in a bar fight between Audrina and The Situation? One fan said it would be Audrina! Fist pumps were present and impressions of The Situation occurred. Even a "bad situation" was called on one guy as his six-pack was not completely visible.

Three more couples are brought to the front to find out what happens to them next. Jennifer and Derek are the 3rd safe couple of the night. After a bit of confusion, where the hosts went to the couple in jeopardy instead of the 4th safe contestants, Rick and Cheryl were told they were in jeopardy. It was hard to watch as they began to celebrate only to be told that they were not safe. This left Brandy and Mak to be the 4th safe of the night.

The duel-off of the night occurred on this very show. Mark Ballas and Val Chmerkovsky went at it on the dance floor both in instrument and dance form. Mark played the guitar as Val rocked out on the violin to the sounds of Toxic by Britney Spears. It was a captivating performance as the two took to the dance floor. The two have been rivals for years, so they both had something to prove tonight. They ended their duel with Val back on his violin and Mark joining him on his electric guitar.

Michael Bolton (yes he's back) performed tonight in the place of Susan Boyle who could not perform as scheduled. Bolton took a break from his world tour to sing Hallelujah for the show he was just recently kicked off from. He was accompanied by a boys choir all dressed in white with a light haze forming around their legs. The stage looked stunning under the smoke with everyone dressed in white as the soothing song floated over head.

After commercials they jumped right back into the elimination process. The Situation and Karina were the 5th safe for the night. They will be accompanied next week by Florence and Corky. Florence dedicated the Waltz they performed to her late husband. Bristol and Mark, as well as Margaret and Louis were informed they would join the other two couples in jeopardy.

A video was shown on the emotional toll of the show. Wednesday morning equals hope to many of the couples, proving that they have one more week in the show. But during that first morning of practice, frustration occurs. They all go through every emotion in one week which sounds absolutely exhausting. Rick Fox explained it best by stating, "It's like a rollercoaster of emotion."

The couples in jeopardy are all brought out. This has to be the most nerve racking moment to these couples, not knowing whether or not your fans were able to carry you through to the next round. Kyle and Lacey are saved the worry and were told they were safe. Next, Rick and Cheryl are informed they too will be returning next week. Now they are down to two couples, both of which did not have strong performances the night before. Bristol and Mark are told that they are the last safe couple of the night.

This is goodbye to Margaret and Louis. Margaret says that she is surprised to be leaving tonight but also includes that she has the "best teacher and best partner." Margaret took a stand last night wearing a rainbow dress to stand up for the gay community. Too bad it wasn't enough to keep her in the competition. Margaret and Louis take one final dance to the song You Can't Always Get What You Want, which in this moment, seems all to true.

Margaret's footwork was off during her performance on Monday and the judges made that known. Do you agree with tonight's elimination?
