When the judges said they were raising the stakes, they weren't kidding. In the second hour of MasterChef tonight, the chefs are split into two teams where they will have to cook for a wedding. As the winner of the last challenge, Lee gets to choose his entire team and goes with Jake, Mike, and Tracy. That leaves Sharone, David, Sheetal, and Whitney to battle it out against them.

The judges are surprised that Sharone isn't chosen by Lee, considering what a strong chef he has been in this competition. To be fair, Sharone is never picked partially because of his egotistical personality and partially because he's a threat. This looks like a Lee/Sharone showdown tonight.

The teams will have to cook 115 dishes - the appetizer (Caesar salad with a goat cheese tartlet) and the main course (surf and turf with mashed potatoes, fried onions, and steamed veggies). There's going to be a pretty narrow window to get these dishes out and no bride will be happy if they screw things up. Sharone's red team will cook for the groom's side of the room while Lee's blue team cooks for the bride's side of the room.

Perhaps it was best that Lee chose as he did because the red team is in complete chaos in the kitchen while the blue team works very well together. However, the same was true last week during the truck stop challenge. Sharone, Slim, Mike, Sheetal, and David seemed completely out of sorts - but their food tasted better. It just matters which team gets their dishes out on time and which team's dishes taste better. Plain and simple.

No sooner do I write that when things come to a screeching halt for the blue team. They can't get their dishes out, they're burning things... it's a hot mess. Probably Lee's fault for choosing Tracy. If you're going to put a woman on your team, she might be my last choice as she's been extremely hot and cold this season.

Once all of the dishes have been served, the teams head back to the MasterChef kitchen to find out which one is the victor.  Lee is knocked off of his high horse when he finds out that his blue team has lost while David is singled out on the red team for being the hero of that challenge.

The blue team will not have to identify ingredients tonight in order to stay in the competition.  They'll have to cook for their lives and to add to the pressure, Gordon announces that two of them will be leaving.  In this Pressure Challenge, they'll have to make a fresh pasta dish in just 90 minutes.  After tasting all of the dishes, the judges decide to save Mike first, eliminate Tracy, then keep Lee in the competition.

That means Jake is headed home as well.  Please allow me as I say: WHAT?!!!!!
