Tonight, on MasterChef, the stakes have been raised by the judges after the contestants were whittled down to the nine. Things kick off with a Mystery Box challenge and the only ingredient in there is crab. A live crab. It's a real problem for Sheetal, who is Hindu and doesn't believe in taking the life of an animal.

She decides to put her beliefs aside and throws that crab into a pot of boiling water. She figures if she's going to have to take the life of an animal, she better do something amazing with it. Good point. Meanwhile, Slim tortures her crab by literally ripping it apart while it's still alive. What is she thinking???

As usual, only the three best looking dishes will be tasted. The judges go with Sharone, Lee, and Sheetal. Sharone's fellow contestants have a problem with him because they feel he doesn't cook from the heart. Honestly, it doesn't matter why he cooks as long as it tastes good! Though Lee has been floating around the middle somewhere, he finally pulls out a win and proves why he's still in the competition.

He's taken to the back room where he chooses the ingredient for the next challenge, where the chefs will have to make a romantic dish. Lee's goes with passion fruit, which is a bit of a problem for some people considering they've never tasted it.

During tasting, some of this season's frontrunners make some serious missteps. Jake is called out for underusing the passion fruit as a glaze/sauce instead of as the "hero of the dish" while Whitney's dish is called amateur.

No one takes a beating, though, quite like Slim. Gordon tells her that if she cooked that dish for him on a date, he's excuse himself to go to the bathroom and never come back. Joe throws her dish in the garbage, telling her he refuses to even taste it. That's a bit extreme. I mean, at least taste the damn thing!

All of the women find themselves in the bottom this week.  They can blame sexism all day but the bottom line is - it didn't taste good and they were outcooked by the men.  Not surprisingly, Slim is sent home.  It's hard to come back from your dish being thrown out.

Lee won his second competition of the evening.  Is there a new frontrunner in the house?
