So You Think You Can Dance Season 7

by Gina Scarpa

This season of So You Think You Can Dance must have you wondering: How many people are advancing in the competition because they deserve to and how many people are advancing because so many people are getting hurt? In a way, it hurts the credibility of the show, if you ask me. I better see Billy Bell dancing for his life tonight, especially since doctors have cleared him to perform.

The contestants and all stars perform to "All That Jazz" as sung by the very cool Broadway star, Lea Delaria. Ten bucks says Tyce choreographed.

Woops, I was wrong. It was Kelley Abbey. Looks like I owe you guys some cash.

The show pays homage to Denise Jefferson, the director of the Alvin Ailey school, who died suddenly last week.

The top six dancers take the stage to find out the results of last night's votes. Lauren and Kent are both safe. The results go on hold while two principal dancers from the American Ballet Theatre perform a selection from Don Quixote. Afterwards, Jose, AdeChike, and Robert anxiously await their results but of course, they have to wait until after the commercial break. AdeChike is safe so Robert and Jose join Billy in the bottom three this week.

A contestant from Vegas, DJ Smart, is brought back to perform his full solo that blew away the judges. The routine is a little weird... he's handcuffed and only wearing underwear... but I'm trying to figure out what this guy did wrong to miss the Top 11. It was most definitely impressive.

This week's all star performance comes from season 3's Neil and Lauren and their Wade Robson jazz routine, set to "Night of the Dancing Flame" by Roisin Murphy. So good, so creepy. Love it!

Nigel reveals who is going on tour. The all stars are: Allison, Ade, Domenic, and Courtney as well as Kathryn and Russell from season 6. Only six dancers from this season will get to go on the tour - the top male and female and four other dancers yet to be named. I'm a little bit disappointed. No Neil? No Twitch? No Mark? No Lauren? No Comfort? What? If I could choose ANY six dancers (regardless of injury), it'd be: Kent, Lauren, Robert, Alex, Ashley, and AdeChike.

Billy is not performing a solo this week so after Robert and Jose do their thing, the judges head off to make a decision. Enrique Iglesias and Pit Bull take the stage to perform in the meantime, backed up by Lauren and Allison. Can anyone tell me what happened to Enrique? Selling out a bit. Just saying.

Time for the results. Nigel tells Robert that the judges are worried he's not growing anymore as a dancer. They also feel that Jose has stopped growing in other styles but has stepped up in his own area. Billy steps forward and it's clear the judges aren't happy that he chose not to dance but they've surprisingly decided not to send anybody home.

That means there's a double elimination next week. Nigel and Cat said that's to make things fair for next week. Fair to whom?

Be sure to watch So You Think You Can Dance when the Top 6 take the stage (again), Wednesday night at 8/7c on Fox.
