So You Think You Can Dance Season 7

by Gina Scarpa

Things get started on So You Think You Can Dance tonight with a Broadway performance by the newbies and the all stars, choreographed by Tyce Diorio. When Cat takes the stage, she gives us a little update on Ashley and her injury. She's still hurt, can't dance, and is automatically in the bottom three. Somehow, it seems like this is going to be another no shocker episode.

Lauren and Kent take the stage first. There's no way they're in the bottom three, with impressive Tahitian, jazz, contemporary, and Broadway routines delivered by the two on last night's performance episode. Cat messes with them a little but they're both safe! Of course they are!

Cat introduces a pint sized pair of ballroom dancers that rock a jive to "Jailhouse Rock". Afterwards, she asks them a series of awkward questions and I think it's safe to say: it's time to move on.

Billy and AdeChike, who both took big steps forward this week, head to the stage to find out which of them will be in the bottom three. Billy finds himself in the bottom group again. It seems like it's a lost cause for him at this point. It doesn't matter what he does really. America seems to have already decided that they can't connect or relate to him.

Last up are Robert and Jose. Robert delivered one of the best performances in So You Think You Can Dance history last night with his contemporary routine with Allison, choreographed by Travis Wall. He just can't be in the bottom three. Jose struggled, the judges pointed out all of his flaws and shortcomings, and America finally looked past the charming smile. He joined Ashley and Billy in the bottom three this week.

While Billy and Jose prepare for their solos, two amazing Alvin Ailey dancers perform, though I have to say that the piece is a little weird.

Cat reintroduces us to a season 4 performance between Comfort and Twitch, choreographed by Dave Scott. Dancing to "Forever" by Chris Brown, we're reminded what strong dancers they are and also, how much they've grown since we last saw them, especially Comfort!

Billy's solo is what you would expect it to be. It was good. What I'm going to say about Jose might make people mad but I'm going to say it anyway.  What he does, dance wise, can be seen by any breaker in any city across the country.  What makes him special is his personality and, much as I love him too, this is a dance competition.  If Ashley is healthy enough to dance next week, she should stay.

Two weeks ago, Christina Perry was just another waitress trying to make her way in the world. Then, Stacey Tookey used her virtually unknown song,"Jar of Hearts", for a contemporary routine between Billy and Kathryn and Christina found herself skyrocketing on ITunes. Christina makes her television debut tonight, backed up by all stars Allison and Neil. Very cool!

Ashley stands on the stage, along with Billy and Jose, to find out if she'll be the one leaving or if she'll get another chance.  She needs 3-5 weeks of rest and is automatically eliminated from the competition.  This is absolutely ridiculous.

On an uplifting note, Nigel revealed that the tour will feature season 6, season 7, and all star dancers.  I will have those tickets THE DAY THEY GO ON SALE.

Be sure to watch So You Think You Can Dance when the Top 6 take the stage, Wednesday night at 8/7c on Fox.
