by Gina Scarpa

This week, on So You Think You Can Dance, ballroom dancer Cristina Santana and tapper Melinda Sullivan found themselves in the bottom three for the second week in a row, along with contemporary dancer Robert Roldan. After they danced their solos, the judges agreed that they were not ready to lose Robert just yet but they were not in agreement in their decision to eliminate Cristina from the competition, who danced beautifully the night before. Yesterday, Cristina spoke to RealityWanted and reporters in a press conference call about her journey on So You Think You Can Dance.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: After you were eliminated, Nigel pointed out how brilliantly you had danced the night before. Were you confused over why they decided to eliminate you?
A. Cristina: Well, no. I went on the show very happy with what I have done. No, I was really excited and obviously sad because I wanted to stay more until the end. Things happen for a reason.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Being a ballroom dancer, what was it like to have Pasha as your partner this week?
A. Cristina: That was a great experience. Having a professional dancer helps you through practice and gives you this confidence. It was a really great experiences and I would never change it. I'm glad I got him for my last dance.

Q. You were in the bottom three last week and then in the bottom again this week. Were you confident that you'd be able to make it another week?
A. Cristina: I kinda thought I would be able to stay for a couple more weeks. I guess this was my time to go. I'm happy with that.

Q. Do you think you could've done anything more to show viewers what you're capable of?
A. Cristina: Yeah, I think I did everything I could. I would have loved to stay and show America that I can do even more. I'm very, very happy with what I have done on the show. I'm going home very proud of myself.

Q. Did you watch your performances back?
A. Cristina: I just saw the performance, the Paso Doble. I was kind of impressed with myself! I really liked the routine and the choreography was amazing.

Q. Do you feel that the type of dance that you do puts you at a disadvantage?
A. Cristina: I don't know. This is a competition. I need to dance everything that they put me through. I wish I could have done more of my salsa. There are so many contemporary dancers. I really enjoy the ballroom part.

Q. How do you feel about the fact that there are so many guys in the competition?
A. Cristina: It's really tough! I think that the guys in the competition are very strong. Now that they have only three girls, it's going to be harder because it's three and six. It's going to be interesting.

Q. How did you get along with the other dancers this season?
A. Cristina: We are together like seven days a week, since the early morning. We are very close. Every practice and every day brings us closer and closer. Everyone is very helpful and we really like each other and we love each other and we support each other.

Q. What is the role of the all stars?
A. Cristina: They're there for us, to support us, to help us. They had the experience before so they know how it's like to be on the show. I think it's a good balance on the show to have the all stars.

Q. What's next for you?
A. Cristina: I'll keep working, more dancing, and going back to school.
