America's Best Dance Crew Season 5

by Danae Young

This week on America’s Best Dance Crew, eight crews remain but one will get eliminated if their music video routine isn’t up to par with the rest.

Each crew is assigned to a specific music video from some of today’s hottest musical artists, including Omarion. The music video will be playing behind the crew so the judges and audience can see how in sync they really are with the video.

Host Mario Lopez announced that the first two crews saved from elimination are Poreotix and Jungle Boogie.

Poreotix had to use an umbrella as their prop for their routine to “Umbrella” by Rihanna. JC Chasez noticed that they weren’t swinging the umbrellas together at one point and added that the dance didn’t include anything very complicated. Lil Mama thought it was very charismatic but said it could’ve been better. Omarion wanted the routine to be brought to life a little differently.

Jungle Boogie performed to “Give It Up To Me” by Shakira. Lil Mama said that when they are given the task, they dominate. Omarion noticed the girl in the group really stood out and did a great job. JC Chasez was less enthusiastic and said it was an okay performance.

The next two crews moving on to next week are Static Noyze and Saltare.

Static Noyze added shopping carts to their routine to “New in town” by Little Boots. Omarion loves what they do. JC Chasez felt like he was watching the video the most compared to the two previous crews. Lil Mama liked that they were very in unison with each other.

Saltare had to figure out a way to perform to “Shake It” by Metro Station while integrating their jump ropes. Unfortunately, they had a few mess ups throughout the routine. JC Chasez said they had a tough time in those ropes. Omarion was surprised and simply said he doesn’t want to see that happen again. Lil Mama said they need to push through and make it happen.

Heavy Impact and Hype 5-0 were the last two crews guaranteed a spot in next week’s episode.

Heavy Impact needed to find a way to learn how to “pop” being the size they are performing to “What You Got” by Colby O’Donis. Omarion didn’t feel the pops as much as he wanted to. Lil Mama thought they stepped it up from last week and loved it. JC Chasez said the opening was energetic but thought the rest was just okay.

Hype 5-0 performed to “3” by Britney Spears. Lil Mama loved it. JC Chasez thought they took advantage of everything they could. Omarion said it was sexy, especially with the girl-on-girl kiss at the end.

Royal Flush and Blueprint Cru were the last two crews and one of them will be going home tonight.

Royal Flush performed first to “Evacuate the Dancefloor” by Cascada. Lil Mama had a great time watching them and JC Chasez thought it was a hot open but said that in the middle it died a little.

Last up was Blueprint Cru performing to judge Omarion’s song “I Get It In.” Omarion seemed a little bias towards their performance for obvious reasons. Even though a few of the people weren’t able to hold the headstand the whole way through, he still gave them props for how well they did on it because it is a difficult move. JC Chasez thought it was a great performance.

When it came down to a final decision, the judges chose Blueprint Cru to move on next week. Looks like Royal Flush really did have to evacuate the dance floor.
