Tonight’s episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County begins with Gretchen going on a ride on the Harley that Jeff bought for her before he passed away. She looks great, and doesn’t miss the opportunity to make fun of Tamra for saying she wanted a pink one and where is it now? 

 

Tamra, meanwhile acknowledges the stress that her relationship with Simon has been under. They are short selling their house and cleaning out their garage, to get ready.  She pulls out multiple garments with their tags still on them, stating the obvious, that if she would have known that the bubble would burst she would have saved a little bit more money. Ryan shows up and shows Tamra his new business card. He seems proud. You can’t help but be happy for the kid.

 

Lynne is having a really hard time with Alexa. I am not sure if this is because they are choosing to focus on it or if Alexa is really going through a bad time. They go shopping and it ends up in them arguing and crying. Alexa doesn’t understand why her parents won’t just discipline her, although she admittedly doesn’t want discipline. Lynne will not break though; even when they argue, she doesn’t raise her voice and she never loses her temper…which is all Alexa really seems to wish for. Alexa just wants her parents to “do something about it”, meaning her bad and rebellious behavior. In the mall, Alexa calls Lynne a couple pretty bad names, and storms off. Lynne sits there, like a victim, instead of disciplining her daughter. 

 

Alexis and Jim are at home talking. She wants to throw a party to get Tamra and Gretchen to reconcile. Jim wants to know if Alexis wants his advice…he cuts her off of her self-proclaimed “rambling” to ask if she wants his opinion. This is not the first time that Jim has asked Alexis to shut up and listen to his omnipotent decree….I mean, opinion. He actually gives Alexis good advice, and like usual, I am back-peddling because I just can’t decide if this is editing or not? Jim comes off as a supremo jerko and then a cool guy that “gets it”…argh! Who are you Jim?!?!

 

Vicki and Donn go on a date night to Laguna and while at dinner Donn proves how great he is when the poor waitress is defecated on, by a wayward seagull, and he wipes it off of her FACE with his napkin. Yes, FACE. Blech…Vicki is a little freaked that she is going to get it after that, but instead sticks her dress in cocktail sauce and then spills red wine on it…weird dinner… but when Donn gifts her a 6 carat (hmmm…really? Maybe the camera does the opposite for jewelry than bodies?) diamond ring it makes things all better.  Later, Vicki gives her poor, bored adult children financial lessons which would have been good to give them when they were 12. Her kids are so mellow though, they don’t mind it. 

 

Gretchen is putting together a makeup line with a girlfriend because she wasn’t left with that $2.5 million that everyone says Jeff’s Will had in there for her. Turns out, Jeffy was $3 million in debt so Gretchen got a cool $-500,000. No wait, that’s not right. Anyway, this is the first time she has talked figures about “The Will” and I think it is interesting that she was getting this much? What about all his chitlens? Odd…

 

At Alexis and Jim’s place, the girls are showing up for “Cook Club” where a gourmet chef teaches the gals how to cook a great meal. This is a great excuse to get the gals together. Of course, Vicki is working, but Lynne, Gretchen and Tamra show up.  Lynne proceeds to get pretty toasted on the wine. Gretchen and Tamra get along okay, and resolve to just sort of “let it go” after Alexis asks them “ Are we good between you guys?” which is a TOTAL Jim line that he suggested she ask! Verbatim! 

 

Lynne grows distressed after Gretchen, once again, gets on her about her parenting skills.  Gretchen has already overstepped her ground this season, and she keeps pushing it! Gretchen definitely has a point and is probably right, but she doesn’t realize that you can’t lecture a parent about their own child. You will never win. You will always be the bad guy! Gretchen says “Alexa says that she needs to parent herself. Your kids need guidance and discipline, you can give them that.”

 

Lynne is so absolutely offended by Gretchen, and now Alexis and Gretchen are pressuring Lynne to give her children guidance. Gretchen has no children. Alexis has infants. Tamra, the ONLY one besides Lynne that has grown children, keeps her mouth shut. Lynne is tipsy from the wine, and slurs her words but doesn’t mince them when she says “F- You” to Gretchen. Hey! Where's Jeana to defend Gretchen?? :(

 

No matter the advice, Gretchen and Alexis should be staying out of this in my opinion; you just cannot win with parents and children…especially if you have not been in this situation. If Lynne needs any advice she should give the one person who has done it right a call…Vicki. C’mon Lynne, she has the only functional children on this entire show, all seasons included…
