On last night’s episode of American Idol, we were reintroduced to contestant Angela Martin in Chicago. Fans of the show will remember that she first tried out in season 7 and we learned about her daughter with special needs. Angela had an inspiring story and the vocal chops to take her far in the competition. She made it to Hollywood that year and headed out to California, despite the fact that her father had recently passed away, but was cut in the second round.
In season 8, Angela returned to Idol but was unable to continue in the competition due to a traffic violation that resulted in a warrant for her arrest. She headed home to deal with her legal matters and missed her chance in Hollywood.
This year, Angela returned once again, performing a stellar version of Mary J. Blige’s “Just Fine”, and received a unanimous vote to go to Hollywood. She finished her audition and judge Kara DioGuardi said, “You do deserve a break,” but a break may not be what Angela gets.
Once again, Angel may not make it to Hollywood to compete. RadarOnline is reporting that on Christmas, Angela’s mother, Viola Martin Brown, went missing. According to the report, Angela says that Viola spent Christmas with her family, then left for a 20 minute drive to visit another daughter but never made it to her destination.
On New Year’s Eve, police found Viola’s car nowhere near her planned destination with no signs. Glendale Police Records Clerk Kim Johnston confirmed the story to RadarOnline, saying, "To my knowledge, she is still missing. I haven't talked to the investigator about it, and I don't know what they've done. But as far as I am concerned, she is still missing."
