Survivor: Samoa

Survivor: Samoa
has got to be one of the best seasons of Survivor yet.  It’s almost impossible to predict where the game is going or who’s going to be voted out next.  Last time, Laura was blindsided after John switched his vote at the last minute, broke a tie vote, and sent her packing.

Tonight, things get rolling with my favorite challenge each and every season: SURVIVOR AUCTION!  The first item is a PB&J sandwich and goes to Natalie for $200.  A covered item is sold to Shambo for $240 and it’s… slug guts.  I’d be pissed but she wolfs it down with a smile which is why I love her so damn much.  The next covered item is sold to Monica for $340 and it’s… a whole roasted chicken.  Now I bet that’s worth every bit of $340.

The next item is an advantage in the next immunity challenge and Jaison steps up, playing all of his $500 for it.  The next item is a burger and beer, which Mick wastes no time giving up all of his $500 for.  The next item is a clue to an immunity idol, which goes to John for $200.  Does no one wonder why Russell isn’t bidding?   The next item is a Survivor shower and boy, do they need it.  For $120, Natalie gets it… along with some cheesy 80s porn music.  For $300, John gets apple pie or trade it for a pizza to share with 3 other people.  He keeps his pie for himself, feeling no one would vote him out for it.  My philosophy is: don’t give anybody a reason EVER to write your name down.  As Russell says: terrible move.  The Survivor auction ends, without so much as a peep from Russell.  What was he waiting for?

That clue pays off for John - he has an idol now.  Oh boy.  Meanwhile, Shambo says goodbye to her chickens as her tribemates make them their dinner.  She freaks whenever someone tries to give her cooking advice.  Make a mental note: never tell Shambo that the water is boiling too much.  Later that night, she has a dream that the tribe votes Dave off and thinks it’s a premonition.  I love Russell… telling her that God is speaking to her the next morning in order to lock up that plan.

Tonight’s immunity challenge is simple.  Hold onto a rope attached to a log until you can’t anymore.  Jaison’s advantage is that, at any time, he can move up 2 full knots on the rope which will reduce the tension and weight.  Shambo is out after about 3 seconds.   Surprisingly, Russell goes next (because he threw it), followed by Monica, John, Brett, Mick, and Natalie.  Dave and Jaison are the remaining two and I bet Shambo is PRAYING that Dave lets go.  He does and Jaison wins immunity - finally!

John and Russell meet to discuss strategy but when John talks too much and says that he knows Russell has the idol, he suddenly becomes the target.  Russell, aka The Godfather, goes to Dave promising him safety if he takes out John.  Jaison worries that if they keep Shambo in the dark, she’ll flip and leave them to go back to Galu.  Shambo’s definitely a wild card, no doubt.

At tribal council, Dave expresses that he’s worried about the target on his back.  Shambo says that her vote tonight will be based on who deserves a million and who doesn’t.  Russell admits that whoever is voted out will be surprised but Shambo thinks that person knows.  Once again, Shambo is in the dark… and hopefully, John is as well.

Nobody plays the idol and here are the votes: Mick.  Dave.  John.  John.  John.  John.  John.  Bye, John.

The blindsides continue and let me say it again.  I LOVE RUSSELL.

Final thought of the night: Does anyone else ever forget that Brett is still in the game?
