The Amazing Race 15

by David McAlpine

Last week on The Amazing Race, Meghan and Cheyne continued their domination at the front of the pack, coming in first. Meanwhile, Gary and Matt fell hopelessly behind in Estonia, making them the next team eliminated from the race.

Upon departing, the teams receive their first clue: head to Prague, Czech Republic and find a vintage Praga, which happens to be an old car. However, no one knows what a Praga is, so they're all left in the dark about what they're looking for. Per race usual, the first flight doesn't leave until the morning, so everyone gets bottlenecked on the flight there.

After arriving in Prague, Brian and Ericka have the great insight to take a bus during rush hour, because they were told on the plane it would be faster. The other teams, however, take taxis, and beat them by far to the clue. Meghan and Cheyne figured out what a Praga was while they were waiting for their flight, while Sam and Dan just followed everyone else, hoping someone would get it--and it paid off.

The teams headed to Kayaky Troja where they encounter a Detour: Fast and Furious or Hangman. In Fast and Furious, teams have to kayak across a whitewater rafting course while getting a clue on the way. If their kayak tipped over, they would have to get back to the start of the course and do it all over again. In Hangman, teams had to travel along a hanging ropes course directly over the rapids. Sam and Dan opted for the kayaking, while Meghan and Cheyne and the Globetrotters headed for the ropes.

Sam and Dan definitely picked the wrong detour, because neither of them could keep the kayak up. And it kept happening again and again and again. The ropes, which I think I would have taken, didn't seem much easier, as both Meghan and Cheyne and the Globetrotters were having difficulty. Things didn't improve for Sam and Dan when they were trapped on the exit platform by Flight Time slowly getting off the ropes course.

The next clue had two ribbons with words inscribed on them, which teams had to figure out meant they were going to the Estades Theatre. Meghan and Cheyne told the Globetrotters they could follow them on the train…then Cheyne ditched them in a taxi. It's the first time I've seen Meghan and Cheyne so cutthroat, and I kind of like it.

Meanwhile, Brian and Ericka are still on the bus and Sam and Dan are still not kayaking very well. Sam and Dan switch to the ropes and the same time Brian and Ericka arrive -- who also pick the ropes. While Ericka was finishing the course, Sam and Dan, who had just finished, started haggling with Brian and Ericka's cab driver to take them instead. Brian tried to fight back, but to no avail, as Sam and Dan ere soon speeding away in their cab.

Their next task was a Roadblock, one that tested everyone's patience. Each contestant participating had to search an 800-seat theatre for a mini-mandolin similar to the one the man played who was on stage singing opera. It got even better when the teams realized that there were multiple instruments hidden around the theater that weren't mandolins, as well as empty mandolin cases.

Cheyne finds the first mandolin, allowing him and Meghan to check in first and win a trip to Lanai, Hawaii. The Globetrotters and Sam and Dan are battling it out when Brian and Ericka arrive. Shortly thereafter, Dan finds an instrument and Sam and he check in in second place. Big Easy finds the third instrument, also saving him and his teammate.

Brian and Ericka finally finish the task and the leg, checking in last. However, some good news from Phil this week is that this is the third of three non-elimination legs. So, Brian and Ericka are safe (though Speed Bump-destined), leaving four teams in contention for the ultimate title and the million dollars.

Tune in next Sunday at 8/7c to see which team gets eliminated and which team makes the final three and gets one last shot at $1 million, only on CBS!
