America’s Best Dance Crew Season 4

by Danae Young

This week on America’s Best Dance Crew, the show started off with all of the crews coming together for a tribute to Michael Jackson performing to his song, Smooth Criminal.

After the thrilling group routine, each crew had to perform individually. Their challenge this week is the VMA Challenge kicking off the VMAs that followed the show. They were each given a VMA performance to reinvent.

We Are Heroes was up first with Madonna’s “Vogue.” Shane Sparks loved it from beginning to end.  Lil Mama thought how they utilized their props was off the chain. JC Chasez said it was the first time they had a real moment on the stage.

Afroborike incorporated a REAL snake into their dance to Britney Spears’ “I’m a Slave 4 U.” Lil Mama said it was the most exciting choreography she has seen from them. JC thought they sold the performance. Shane liked how they put an exciting twist to the challenge.

As for Rhythm City and Massive Monkees, they were the bottom two. The crews had to battle it out for a spot on next week’s episode.

Massive Monkees brought out their boy band energy when they performed to NSYNC’s “Tearin’ Up My Heart.” JC expressed that it was one of their best performances. Shane noticed their mess up and told them they can’t afford to mess up this far into the season. Lil Mama liked how they used their bodies as a prop.

In Rhythm City’s performance to Chris Brown’s “Wall to Wall,” they jumped from platform to platform. Shane said it needs to be harder because this is a competition. Lil Mama thought the energy was more in their spirit than in their body. JC doesn’t agree with Shane and Lil Mama. He said they had a very powerful performance that was dangerous and hot. Shane and JC argued over the performance making the decision of who to send home very difficult.

JC lost the argument because Massive Monkees was announced to be coming back next week for another chance at the title of America’s Best Dance Crew. Rhythm City gave their thanks to the fans and judges and left the stage as their banner fell.
