The Bachelorette Jillian Harris

by Gina Scarpa

Next week, Bachelorette Jillian Harris has a tough decision ahead of her.  She is in love with two different men, but only one of them can capture her heart in the end.  In one corner is Ed, a 29 year old tech consultant from Chicago and in the other is Kiptyn, a 31 year old business developer from Encinitas, CA.  To complicate matters, Reid, who has been eliminated, shows up to try to convince Jillian to give him a second chance.  Today, Jillian spoke to reporters in a press conference call about the upcoming dramatic season finale of The Bachelorette.  Read on to find out what she told RealityWanted about being in love with two men at the same time as well as what her family thinks about her being back on tv and what it’s like to date 30 guys in 2 months!

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted:  When you were on The Bachelor, you only had one person to focus on and have feelings for.  As The Bachelorette, did it surprise you when you started developing emotional attachments and feelings for many of the guys at the same time?
A. Jillian: I'm not sure if I was surprised.  I've always been a very loving person.  I've always been very affectionate, I've stayed friends with my exes.  I've never fallen in love with more than one person.  This experience was very confusing for me. I've just never been that lucky in my life.  it was overwhelming.

Q.  Gina, RealityWanted: As we get closer to the end of the season, how difficult is it for you to eliminate these people?
A. Jillian: Oh my gosh.  The thing is, in real life, you hear the experession: "He's Mr. Right, but not Mr. Right Now."  Some of the guys like Michael and Reid, it's hard to let them go, even though you know they're not the ones for you.  It's hard to let them go because you're not ready.  It's very difficult, it's very heartbreaking either way.

Q. We saw that Reid is coming back in the promo.  What can you tell us about his return?
A. Jillian: I can't tell you anything.  It's a very exciting episode.  It's all very dramatic unfortunately.

Q. What is the best quality of the top three guys?
A. Jillian: I would definitely say that for Reid, his sense of humor and quirkiness.  I'll have to say Kiptyn is so genuine and he has such a huge heart.  With Ed, I would say just his balance.  He's got a good balance in life between personal and business and family and he's just a very well rounded individual.

Q. Tell us what a whirlwind it is to date so many guys at once.
A. Jillian: It's not so hard to keep them straight.  At this point, they're unique personalities and they're completely defined and separate individuals.  In the very beginning, it's hard to separate them.  Even when you're down to 13 or 15 guys, all of their personalities are unique and it's easy to identify with them.  What's overwhelming: don't try to date 30 guys at any point in your life especially within 2 months.  There's no time off.  It gets draining, believe it or not.

Q. Have you ever confused any of the men?
A. Jillian: I called Jesse "Josh" twice so that was a little embarrassing.  In Spain, I would be asking questions and the guys would say, "We've already talked about this."  I'm sure it's normal.  I remember Jason doing this to me last year.  I figure that there's just so much going on that there are just conversations you forget.

Q. How did your family feel about the whole experience this season?
A. Jillian: My family is a very liberal family and I think that's probably why I'm so liberal about so many things.  They're very supportive of the decisions I make.  They were worried more about my career, because I'm very serious about my career, but my parents want grandkids like you wouldn't believe.

Q. What was the most surprising thing about being The Bachelorette?
A. Jillian: I'm not gonna complain because I'm so happy I did it but I think the most surprising thing was how draining it was.  I did have fun, I stayed awake late, but I was also very emotional.  There are just so many emotions, so many highs and so many lows.  In normal life, I feel like I deal with emotion and drama very well.  On the show, I just felt like I was so exhausted that even the simplest conversation would get me teary eyed.  I feel like I was a little bit more emotional than i am in real life.  Other than that, it was every girl's dream!

The finale of The Bachelorette airs Monday night at 8pm ET on ABC.
