GHI started off their 2nd season Irish style, featuring new investigator, Ashley Godwin.  Ashley replaces Angela Alderman who was around just long enough to let us know that she had other things to do.  Some viewers questioned Angela’s experience and desire for ghost hunting so when she announced that she was leaving after one season to “get married” there was not much surprise.  Either way the male viewers should be happy with the new eye candy as her ghost hunting experience is much less than her new counterparts.  The other members of the team remain the same with Robb Demarest leading the crew, followed by Dustin Pari, Brandy Green, Joe Chin, and Barry Fitzgerald.  One complaint from last seasons shows was the dryness of the team.  It’s parent show, Ghost Hunters, often shows investigators, Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango, clowning with each other and often making boring shows a little entertaining.  There’s plenty of time to be serious in an one hour show so a little fun never hurts.  Robb could ease up on the seriousness and see if can get a little of the camaraderie going with Barry like the founding fathers of modern ghost hunting, Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson have on the aforementioned Ghost Hunters.  Of course there are more than a few viewers who are wondering whether or not Brandy Green will ease up on the blue eye shadow which bloggers could not let go of.

The Wicklow Gaol or jail, was built in 1702 and was finally closed in 1924 and turned into a museum.  You can imagine what may have happened to the prisoners there back in the 1700 and 1800’s when going to a jail did not mean you had three square meals and day and time out in the yard to play basketball and lift weights.  With as many as 17 packed into a cell during various times, the chances that you were going to be more than one persons’ “bitch” was inevitable.  Between the beatings of the prisoners and overall horrible conditions it is not surprising that caretakers and visitors to the museum often see shadow activity, white mists, experience moments of not being able to breath with a choking feeling, and unearthly noises.

It wasn’t long into the investigation until the team began hearing noises, mostly footsteps with no one around to claim them.  In fact, while they were setting up the equipment, ghosts already began hitting on Ashley by tugging on the back of her leg.  Dustin locked himself in solitary confinement and egged on the spiritual world for contact, contact which he may have gotten recorded.  Brandy, who was investigating in an attic area once used as a church, began experiencing some florescent light hovering near the ceiling which began taking shape.  Both Brandy and Dustin were using multiple pieces of equipment so there is a good chance something will appear during the analysis.  Ashley and Brandy teamed up to investigate the top floor of the jail, considered to be the most haunted and Brandy experienced a tug on her arm, similar to the tug that Ashley experienced while setting up. The final spot investigated was the school room.  Children born from the inmates would learn there ABC’s there and apparently a few of these children are still hanging around, with one of them apparently trying to get into the pocket of Dustin and grab some of his candy which he carries on all investigations.

The analysis of the evidence showed that this jail was not at peace.  When Dustin was in a solitary confinement cell a very audible growl was heard, the kind that makes the hair on your arms stick straight up.  Another voice recording was of a woman possibly saying “Rights” which would correlate with a story of a daughter of an inmate who may have been that voice calling out for her fathers’ rights, something she did very vocally when visiting.  One camera did catch, on two separate occasions, what seemed to be a mist or cloud of something creating itself and moving through the main floor of the jail.   Other than the mist, no other cameras carried any visible evidence.  The GHI team called the jail haunted and it made for an interesting first show of the season.

The team did a really good job of investigating and this was one of those locations that you would like them to spend more time at in the future.  Ashley showed some good ghost hunting knowledge and she may be a good long term add to the team.
