Allison Iraheta of American Idol Season 8

by Gina Scarpa

It’s a man’s world on American Idol as, last night, Allison Iraheta was eliminated from the competition.  Weeks earlier, Simon had told her that she was the girls’ only hope of making it far this season and he was right.  This 17 year old rocker ended up being the last woman standing and left just short of the hometown parade and the finale.  Today, she spoke to reporters in a conference call, dishing on her Idol experiences and what lies ahead for her.

Q. TV Guide: Were you surprised that you left last night?
A. Allison: It was weird.  I’ve been in the bottom three so many times and I was really prepared for anything.  When it was down to me or Danny I thought, “Well it’s either him or me,” and it was me.  I’m glad I got the opportunity to be on that stage.

Q. TV America: How were you and Adam chosen to sing the duet?
A. Allison: We thought about doing a duet for a while now.  “Slow Ride” was on the list and we thought, “That sounds fun, let’s do that!”  We’re planning on doing that on the tour.  That’s going to be fun.

Q. US Weekly: What do you think of the four person panel this year?
A. Allison: Change is good.  I love Kara and it’s awesome that they change it up.  You don’t wanna be stuck doing the same thing, right?  I think it’s pretty cool that they bring something different to the table.

Q. Flash News: Did the guys in the competition treat you like a little sister?
A. Allison: It was so fun!  They would pick on me.  It’s the love, you know?  It’s so cool.  It was like family, it was really great.  We all got along so well.  They would really stand up for me and the cool thing is that they would help me with song choice.  It was great.

Q. Comcast: How shaken up were you by the accident that took place on set this week?
A. Allison: We didn’t know how to react because it was rehearsal and it was a great friend of ours, Debbie.  She’s doing better and we wanted to know how she was doing.  We heard she was doing fine and that helped us continue on.

Q. United Stations: What was it like to work with Slash?
A. Allison: You have no idea!  When I heard it was Slash, I was like, “Oh my!  I can’t wait to meet him!  He’s so awesome!”  I’ve been a fan for so long and it was insane that I got to sing while he was playing for us.  I think he was one of the best mentors we’ve had, hands down.  We were so happy he could take time out of his schedule to come to the show.

Be sure to watch American Idol when the Top 3 take the stage, Tuesday at 8pm ET on FOX.
