Sierra Reed from Survivor Tocantins

by Gina Scarpa

Some games are not fun to play and, in some instances, Survivor is no exception.  Take Sierra for example.  This season, she was voted out on the very first day, after her tribe determined her to be weak, based solely on first impressions.  Her tribe was quite shocked to find out that she wasn’t voted out of the game, just out of the long journey to their camp.  Though Sierra has tried to prove herself since that day, she has always had a target on her back.  When she became fed up with the lies and the drama in the game, she tried to play honestly but the merged Forza tribe had had enough of her and sent her packing during last night’s tribal council.  Today, she spoke to reporters in a conference call about her time in the game and of course, in true Sierra form, she tells it like it is.

Q. What’s the story behind you getting cast for the show?
A. Sierra: They came up to me three weeks before they were leaving to film the show.  I was eating a taco and they asked me if I would be interested.  I went in for my interviews and I had fun with it and then, they asked me to be part of the show.

Q. What’s your overall impression of Coach?
A. Sierra: There’s two different impressions.  There’s the one that you don’t see, deep down inside and then there’s Coach.  Coach is a liar.  I don’t think he means to lie.  I think he likes to tell tall stories and he feels like he’s experiencing it with whoever he’s telling it to.  I think he played it up for the cameras.  There are a lot of things about him that are completely obnoxious.  Last night… Proclaiming yourself to be the most honest person in Survivor history is something that you should not do if Sierra is gonna come after you and out you.

Q. How did you and Tyson get along at Ponderosa?
A. Sierra: Tyson and I… if you go on CBS.com… we poured a vat of olive oil on a slip and slide and we ate all day long.  We let bygones by bygones.

Q. Would you ever pull a Rob and Amber and go on The Amazing Race?
A. Sierra: You mean, join the reality train?  No.  If I was asked to do The Amazing Race, yes I would want to do it but I would not want to be perceived as a reality star.

Q. How frustrating was it  when Coach and Debbie lied about you approaching them for an alliance?
A. Sierra: It made me almost kick the tv, I screamed so loud.  It’s insane when the person who’s lying is telling you that you’re the liar.  I think I did a great job of making sure he looked like a liar to America and to our tribe.

Q. If you could hand pick the winner right now, who would it be?
A. Sierra: Stephen, JT, or Taj.

Q. RealityWanted: Do you think you would have fared better or, at least, had a better time, if you began the game on the Jalapao tribe?
A. Sierra: No.  My tribe was filled with a mature group of people that were well traveled.  Everyone was a little bit neurotic in their own sense.  We meshed and didn’t mesh at the same time.  There was a long time where people did like me, but they didn’t show that.  They wanted to show the drama.  I think I did a good job on my team.  My team expected a lot of me and I lived up to the expectations.  I think that Jalapao was filled with a bunch of young kids like Joe, Syndey, and Spencer.  I don’t think they had any other mental strategy other that

Q. RealityWanted: If you were still in the game, and you made it to the end, who would you have taken to the final three?
A. Sierra: I would say Brendan and Taj.

Q. RealityWanted: When you watch the show back, is there anything that has really surprised you this season that you weren’t aware of when you were in the game?
A. Sierra: Yeah, I thought that Stephen was a weak little pipsqueak and look at him!  I’m almost so proud of him.  I’m like, “Oh my gosh, he’s brilliant!”  The whole time, I was like, “Poor thing in challenges.  He can’t even walk.” and then you’re watching him run the game!
