Laury Prudent from Make Me A Supermodel 2

by Gina Scarpa

Last night on Make Me A Supermodel, Laury's photo failed to win over the judges and she landed in the bottom group.  The panel has told her that she lacks confidence and presence and takes weak photographs at times.  Though Laury disagreed with what they had to say, she could not change their minds about her and she was eliminated from the competition.  Today, she spoke to RealityWanted in an exclusive interview and let us know what she really thought about the judges and their opinions.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Tell us a little bit about your modeling experience prior to the show and what made you want to try out for Make Me A Supermodel.
A. Laury: Before the show, I was doing a lot of traveling and modeling around Asia.  I worked in Hong Kong, Thailand, all over.  I’ve also worked in Miami, my hometown, as well as New York and L.A.  I was mostly freelancing.  Every model wants to grow, though, and that was my main reason for going on the show.  You can never have enough experience.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Did you watch the first season of the show and were you surprised by any changes they made for the second season?
A. Laury: Yes, I did watch it online because I was in Asia at the time.  I had an idea of what the show was going to be like but I was surprised that Nikki wasn’t there this season.  It was great having Tyson as the host because he had no problem talking to the girls and helping them.  I respect Nicole - she was thrown into the modeling world and she has a passion for it.  It’s great to get information from someone like her.  As for the judging, last season, America got to vote so I thought I’d have to win over the audience first.  I kind of prefer it this way because the judges know what they’re looking for.  They have experience.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Was there anything that the judges said this season that you really disagreed with or wish you could have debated with them?
A. Laury: There were two things that got to me.  In one instance, they said that I lacked presence or that something was missing.  Anybody who knows me knows that I have a big personality.  That took me for a loop and I was disappointed to hear that.   I’m not gonna change myself to fit this mode.  Another comment they made was that I don’t photograph well.  On my website, my MySpace… I have endless comments on my photos saying I did a good job.  I’ve pulled out plenty of great pictures.  Those were the two comments that rubbed me the wrong way but I just tried to grow from it.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: Looking back on your final episode, do you think you should have been the one eliminated or should someone be talking to me right now in your place?
A. Laury: The last episode was not my worst.  It was tough because, in the photo shoot, we were supposed to seem like best friends.  I loved my photo but the judges felt otherwise.  As far as who should have gone in my place, everybody on the show had a good day and a bad day so I can’t really say but it was definitely a shocker that I went home, to say the least.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: I’ve heard from some of the models this season that you guys received conflicting feedback from the judges and the photographers.  Do you agree with that and what are your thoughts?
A. Laury: At times, I was definitely confused, especially when it came to the catwalk.  We did get conflicting advice from what the judges thought to the photographers to the stylists.  It prepared me though because, in the modeling world, you have to find balance.  Not everybody’s gonna love my walk or my personality.  You can’t just be simple.

Q. Gina, RealityWanted: What are your future plans, now that you are done with the show?
A. Laury: I just arrived back from Milan and I’m a little jet lagged.  With the show and the exposure, I’m sure someone has seen something.  My whole thing is getting signed to an agent or an agency.  I’m positive and once the door is cracked open, I’m gonna run through it.  You’re definitely gonna see more from me!
