After watching last night's performance episode of American Idol, I had a pretty good idea of who was going to end up in the bottom three. However, I decided to keep my predictions to myself because usually, when I say them out loud, the person I want to go home always ends up staying, sometimes even avoiding the bottom completely. A contestant that I like either receives a low number of votes or, even worse, is eliminated! Actually, that only happened once, to Alexis Grace, but that's not my point. The point is that clearly, I am not Miss Cleo and I can't predict who's staying or going. However, I lucked out tonight and the person I was hoping would leave finally got the boot and was sent on his merry little way.
The night got started with the Top 8's rendition of Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head". Once again, I always find it hilarious that Simon complains that the contestants sound like people in a karaoke bar and then the absolute worst songs are chosen on elimination night for the group to perform. After that semi-painful performance, it was time for Seacret to reveal some of the results. Adam and Kris were named safe, while Anoop was placed in the bottom three. After a performance by Flo Rida, Danny is named safe and, even better, so is Matt. Scott finds himself in the bottom three along with Anoop. Only Lil and Allison remain and Seacrest announces that Allison is safe. The bottom three are: Anoop, Scott, and Lil.
Former Idol Kellie Pickler returned to perform her latest song but at long last, it was time for the results. Ryan sent Lil to safety then revealed that Scott had the lowest number of votes. Believe it or not, the judges were actually considering saving him... well, the girls were. Scott performed his bland rendition of "The Search Is Over" and Simon was the one to make the decision (thank God). Scott is gone for good and the save can be used on another contestant in the next few weeks.
Tune into American Idol next Tuesday when the Top 7 take the stage at 8pm ET on FOX.
