Cloris Leachman Stays And Toni Braxton Departs On Dancing With The Stars
By: Mary Cavaliere
This week’s featured dance from last night was Cody & Julianne’s jitterbug. It wouldn’t have been my first choice but that’s o.k. because Julianne is always a pleasure to watch.
Len justified why he gave a score of 21 to Cloris & Corkey last night and also gave that same score to Lance & Lacey. He said one underperformed and the other was for pure entertainment. I didn’t think this was an entertainment competition. I thought it was a DANCE competition. Well at least next week we’ll get a break from the old guy. Len will be traveling and another judge will take his place for next week’s show.
Tonight’s guest performer was the Brian Setzer Orchestra. I love these guys. I was fortunate enough to see them perform live twice while I was still living in Massachusetts. They surely know how to rock the house.
But the smile on my face came to a screeching halt when I heard them announce that once again Cloris & Corkey were “safe”!!!! You have GOT to be kidding me.
The ballroom kids returned and both Anthony & Alyssa and Mitchell & Maria gave us a grand show. I also felt Mitchell & Maria were very sophisticated for age 13. I can see these two ten years from now dancing as the “pros” on this show!
They had a Macy’s 150th Anniversary Dance extravaganza but honestly I wasn’t too impressed. I’ve seen much better group dancing on So You Think You Can Dance. This was mediocre at best which is why I didn’t bother to write down the name of the choreographers.
As for elimination, it was disappointing. If Cloris Leachman wasn’t going home, I felt the next to go should have been Susan Lucci, who did end up in the bottom two, but unfortunately Toni Braxton was the next to go which saddens me because I thought she’d make it to the finals.
