Tonight was the finale for this season’s Last Comic Standing.  The five final comics - MARCUS, LOUIS RAMEY, ELIZA SHLESINGER, JIM TAVARE and JEFF DYE competed last week and tonight we learned the results of America’s vote.  Only I am having trouble with believing America is really the one who voted.

As I said last week I thought the winner was a no brainer and if it wasn’t Marcus or Jeff Dye I swore to not tune into Last Comic Standing next season.  Well, there is NO way I can believe that Eliza won this completion over Jeff or Marcus.  Is she funny?  Sure she is.  But she’s just not in the same league as these other two pros.  I do believe NBC toyed with the results (and if you think a network wouldn’t do such a thing then you’re just plain naive).  Television is all about drama and shock and surprise.  The most predictable thing to happen during this competition was to see Jeff or Marcus win.  But networks don’t want predictable. They want to keep you on the edge of your seats.  I knew as soon as they wrote off Jeff Dye and it was down to Eliza and Marcus that she would win.  You know why?  Because if the producers were trying to create a real drama and make everyone “wonder” who would win, then it would have been what we expected – Jeff v. Marcus.  Since that is not what happened, the only real explanation was that a network blind-side was way more exciting than a predictable competition between these two comic geniuses.  So they either edited the heck out of Eliza’s performances and she really was great but we, the viewing audience never saw it, or they skewed the results.  But if the viewing audience never saw the good stuff, why would they vote for her?  It just doesn’t make sense.

No one else will have the courage to say it but I will.  NBC robbed Jeff Dye and Marcus of a title they were truly worthy of.  As for me, my apologies to my readers who always email me because they love my “take” on Last Comic Standing, not only will I not be blogging it next season, I won’t even be tuning in.
