After being one of the three remaining designers, Chris Cortez emerged triumphant last night as the winner of THE CUT, and was awarded his dream come true -- the opportunity to design his own collection under the Tommy Hilfiger label, and to become the next great American designer. The decision was made by Tommy Hilfiger after the final three designers unveiled the windows they created on Seventh Ave. at Macy's Herald Square in New York City.

To promote its new fall series "Three Wishes," NBC will be granting three wishes in 15 markets the week of September 12 -- including a "big wish" at a local charity in each city, where they'll present a check for $2,500 to purchase an item (or items) on the charity's own wish list. As part of the grassroots marketing campaign, they will also grant two smaller wishes at local retailers by picking up the tabs for several lucky customers.

After extensive consultation between Memphis, TN safety officials, FedExForum venue staff, and AMERICAN IDOL producers, it has been determined that due to the extensive disaster relief efforts currently being coordinated in that city, the AMERICAN IDOL auditions scheduled for Monday, Sept. 5, will need to be cancelled.
The city of Memphis has taken on the responsibility of taking in tens of thousands of refugees from Hurricane Katrina, and out of respect for the city's citizens, their public services, and the need to focus public safety efforts on the victims, this decision was made.
