Acting/Talent Experience:
I have a minor in Theater and had done some acting while in college. Recently, I have performed on stage dancing (salsa), and have been perfecting my singing skills, of which I have been getting very good feedback, and have been asked to fill in for bands as time allows. I do not have issues being on-stage as most of my life has involved teaching (college), leading as an aerobics instructor for nearly 20 years, and in front of tv cameras (local commercials and shows), and voice-overs for radio.
Am I affiliated with unions?:
No
A major event in my life was:
My sister was killed ~15 years ago. At that time, I had given up my will to do anything, but as time progressed, I realized that we all only have so much time to make an impression and how we want to be remembered. So I made the move to live where I want to and followed my dreams-to be a dancer, start singing again, progress my career, and influence others to do the same. I've always had a natural ability to motivate others, and cherish this gift by using it to help others pursue their dreams.
The accomplishment I am most proud of:
There are a few that have a common thread - they all involve following my dreams and accomplishing what others thought impossible: 1) Being accepted as one of only 38 students out of over 400 applicants in a challenging college program and finishing it with honors; 2) Having the strength and determination to compete in a bodybuilding show despite the nay-sayers; 3) Going from my 1st dance lesson to stage within 6 months; 4) Having the guts to move cross country without a plan.
An embarrassing story about me was:
Well, since it's embarrassing, I don't think I want to say! ;)
My favorite Movie:
Serendipity - Has sentimental meaning for me.
My favorite TV Show:
Jeopardy - I like to be intellectually challenged.
My best Physical Trait is:
My Smile or Eyes
Topics off limit to me at a party are:
Religion, Politics
Do I have tattoos or piercings:
Belly piercing...and ears of course.
The weirdest thing about me is:
I don't think I have any really weird traits - other than maybe the birthmark on my head which is visible because there's one section of my hair that has no color pigment. The hair is actually clear but it looks more blonde because it's against brown hair. I got teased about this as a child but now love it because it makes me unique.
My friends would say my best qualities are:
I make everyone feel as though they are my best friend. I'm loyal and honest. I have a huge network of people because of it. Funny, on the flip-side, I've been told that I can be unapproachable. They say it's because I am confident in who I am, have good posture, am pretty, etc, so people assume that I am "mean." But when they get to know me, they find that it is the complete opposite. Of course I can be mean, but only when they get on my bad side. :)
My friends would say my worst qualities are:
My quick temper. I've mellowed out over the years, but I do still have a tendency to speak my mind. I come from a family of stubbornness, so I will stand my ground. But on the other hand, it is this same quick temper that I use to stand up for my friends when needed.
The personality traits I most like about myself are:
My amazing ability to network and connect others together in order to make things happen. I am a natural motivator and people gravitate towards me, I suppose due to a natural charisma that some people have. I believe I have it.
The personality traits I like least about myself are:
Like I said, I am stubborn. But in the same sense, I feel that I am flexible enough when it comes to giving others what they want and not always what I want. You need to find a balance. You cannot give up entirely what you need and want for the sake of others and losing who you are as a person in the process.
Miscellaneous Information:
I've always been told that I should be doing something larger that what I've been, that I have a face and a personality for tv, and I agree. Even my friends who are on tv as newscasters say that. I am not a dreamer that wants to be a movie star because of the assumed glamour; I truly feel that I have a calling to be part of this industry. It's something I've felt since I was a child, but just simply have not had the opportunity presented. Time will tell.
