About Me

Acting/Talent Experience:
High School Plays & Musicals/Chorus, Madrigal & Swing Choir for 4 years. Degree in Broadcast Journalism. Signed with Arlene Wilson Talent (Milwaukee, WI) in the Midwest & Plaza 3 Talent in Phoenix - Jobs consisted of runway, modeling & acting jobs. Also have been on various morning show segments & radio shows (both in-studio & on-location). Named Master of the Southwest by Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine in 2006, a great honor & a huge feather in my cap.
A major event in my life was:
A new client with 2 young daughters and lost her husband recently. He was 42. She knew she & her girls had to move on. The yard had been let go but it was full of memories they didn't want to erase. They knew he would want them to be happy & after working thru the grieving & the guilt, she called me back a yr later. It's been two years & they now have a garden that "exceeds their expectations" & has brought passion, fun & excitement back into their lives. The project brought me to my knees.
The accomplishment I am most proud of:
I am most proud of a couple things that interconnect. In 2006 I was named Master of the Southwest by Phoenix Home & Garden magazine. At that time I was then asked by the magazine to write a column, entitled "Design Solutions" for a 3-year stint. It's been very rewarding seeing my degree in Broadcast Journalism, my acting experience & my career in landscape & interior design all come together. I am extremely proud of my website. www.troybankorddesign.com It's been a lot of work but rewarding.
An embarrassing story about me was:
In high school I attended a graduation pool party at my good friend, John's. It was hot and humid, the potato salad was perhaps a little tainted from sitting outside too long; AND I drank too much! An few hours later I hurled in the hot tub, with everyone quickly exiting. I was mortified! When given a ride home, I was sick the entire ride home and have never done that again! LOL
My favorite Movie:
Avatar
My favorite TV Show:
Bravo - Housewives/Flipping Out
My best Physical Trait is:
My smile
Topics off limit to me at a party are:
I really don't like speaking about politics at a party. I'll pretty much chat about anything else.
Do I have tattoos or piercings:
No Tattoos or piercings. I'm pretty vanilla as far as that's concerned and feel the human body is one of the most beautiful art forms ever created.
The weirdest thing about me is:
My obsession with needing to have one of every color of something that I purchase including kitchen gadgets such as funnels, of which I also have a variety of sizes. I am also obsessed with Nike tennis shoes. I have over 50 pair of them... some I have never even worn.
My friends would say my best qualities are:
My friends always comment on my body and especially my butt. Strangers even approach me about my butt and want to slap it. They would also say that I am passionate, energetic, fearless, dedicated, hard-working, compassionate, loving, caring & giving. After all, I am a Cancer! LOL
My friends would say my worst qualities are:
They would most-likely say my that I work too much and that strive too hard at perfection.
The personality traits I most like about myself are:
I have very sophisticated taste and an innate sense of style & balance. I have clients that call me a purist. Coming from a family of designers, I was born with and nurtured an amazing sensitivity for everything lifestyle-oriented; homes, gardens, design, nature...I feel the vibrations of plants when I walk in a nursery and I've been able to hone-in on the energy and vibrations I feel when approaching a new client or project and follow my instincts accordingly.
The personality traits I like least about myself are:
I am a very visual person and I can see a room or garden in it's completed state the moment I see it for the first time. Even driving down the street is grueling; seeing everything for what it COULD be! Criticizing gardens, the color someone is painting their home... The same sense of style & balance that I love so much, I also view as a curse. At times I wish I could be happy walking into Sears & buying the lst $300. sofa I see. I often wonder if people w/more simplistic taste are happier.
Miscellaneous Information:
I grew up in the Midwest and had an idyllic childhood - Almost Normal Rockwell-esque. I resided in Phoenix, AZ for 25 years doing landscape & interior design, architectural renovations, event planning & consulting. I love what I do and want to move to the next level. I've always wanted to do a TV show - perhaps a before & after-type where I can inspire hundreds of thousands, or even millions of viewers. Changing people's lives with my work has been very rewarding.
