Recently we had the opportunity to speak with Mark Burnett the creator of Survivor and many other successful reality shows. Here’s what he had to say:

Q. RealityWanted.com: Thanks Mark for speaking with us today. So how did you get started in reality?

A. Mark Burnett: I like non fiction and adventure shows, so I liked the idea of starting something that combined both aspects.

Q. RealityWanted.com: What do you love about reality TV?

A. Mark Burnett: It is accessible to everyone and it allows ordinary people the opportunity to be on TV. It has created a lot of jobs and gives the reality stars more opportunities.

Q. RealityWanted.com: Besides your own shows, what reality shows do you watch?

A. Mark Burnett: I like American Idol, Dancing with the Stars and Extreme Makeover.

Q. RealityWanted.com: What would you tell perspective applicants trying out for reality shows? Do you have any pointers?

A. Mark Burnett: Be a leader. We are looking for A Type personalities, so come prepared to the audition and show us your big personality.

Q. RealityWanted.com: Where do you see reality TV heading?

A. Mark Burnett: There are the favorite shows that will be here for awhile and there are always going to be new ideas that no one has thought of yet. So reality TV is going to continue to grow.

Q. RealityWanted.com: So what are some of the current projects you are working on?

A. Mark Burnett: I am excited to be working on the MTV Movie Awards (http://www.realitywanted.com/newsitem/1147-mtv-news-mtvnewscom-usher-in-the-2008-mtv-movie-awards) airing this Sunday June 1st hosted by Mike Myers.
