A few months ago, I adopted a cat named Cookie from the Humane Society. It turned out she had a liver disease and about a 50/50 chance. After many vet visits and a lot of medical attention, Cookie just couldn't hold on. She had a stroke a little over a week ago and we had to have her put down. Some people might say it's just a cat, but saying goodbye to her really touched me. And conditioned me to live my life just a little better.
